…and so it may sell before this listing ends.

I bought this car brand new in 2000 from Jordan Acura in Iowa (it is now Johnston Acura). I had a supercharged ITR at the time that I had bought used and wanted a brand new one that didn’t have any stories. I never felt these engines needed any improvements as they were the best Honda could offer at the time. I paid full window sticker for it and had it delivered to me via enclosed carrier.

While attending a Ferrari club event in Atlanta in early 2001 I saw a yellow ITR with these beautiful BBS wheels on it that reminded me for the Ferrari Challenge wheels that were standard equipment on the 360 Modena at the time. I really liked this look and strangely enough I ended up buying these wheels from the owner of that yellow car a few months later when he sold his car and sold these wheels on the side. The factory wheels are included and have a few scratches and need some tires of course.

I used the car sparingly for a sunny day car and I also used it for lapping days at VIR with the local car clubs. I bought this car as a companion to my Ferrari as I wanted to learn to be a better driver and have something less expensive as a weekend car. I never drove the car in any wheel-to-wheel races and only used it for fun. It has not spent it’s life at redline like some ITRs have.

I installed the Autometer Oil temp and pressure gauges in the custom instrument surround to keep an eye on the pressure and temps. All of the VTEC engines of the era depend on oil pressure to control the valve timing. It is important to keep things cool and in the right pressure range to keep the engine in perfect condition.

The factory pressure switch and the pressure sender are mounted to the firewall via a braided hose and it is connected to the factory pressure port just above the oil filter. The temp sender is mounted in the oil pan via a welded in bung. I removed the pan and took it to my local race shop and had it welded by an expert and it has never leaked a drop. The gauges that are in the car now are brand new as the temp one eventually died and I just replaced them both as of Feb 2016.I still have the factory surround and all the hardware to put it back to stock without the gauges if a person wants.

During the time I used the car for track days I installed a bolt in roll bar that I still have in storage (I would have to check and confirm it is still in there) and the mounting points are still there. Also I had a remote oil filter and cooler installed but removed that several years ago when I got married (2004) and track days became a thing of the past.

I eventually decided I would sell the car and so I sold it to one of my closest friends who had owned a 2000 yellow one but it was totaled due to a deer crashing into him. He knows how special the ITR is and so I felt very confident in him owning the car. Turns out he took even better care of the car than I did for the 8months he owned it. He painted the calipers, etailed the engine compartment, n short he treated the car like it deserved. As life would have it he ended up deciding to go a different automotive path and asked me if I wanted it back, nd so of course I said yes!

At the time I bought it back it had 37k miles on it but it was 10+ years old and I felt I should have the timing belt and water pump replaced. This work was done at my local independent Honda repair shop that has been working on all my Hondas for decades.

It has been sitting in my garage and driven a few thousand miles each year and I tried to never drive it in bad weather but it has been plenty wet and has seen the occasion snow flake. It currently has about 55k miles on the clock. I always used Mobil 1 10W30 and a quality oil filter every 3000 miles or after each track event.

Now my passion is going in a different direction and this car is ready for a new home. I don’t have to sell it but I would like for the car to go to a real enthusiast who can appreciate the car and understands how special they are.

As far as the condition of the car goes it is not perfect but it is easy an 8 out of 10. The defects it has are as follows.

*Scratch on the passenger front fender…the wife scraped while putting a shove back in the garage.

*Scratch on the drivers rear bumper cover (plastic) due to a ladder falling in the garage and scraping it.

*Small door ding on the passenger door due to a careless soccer mom at a cars and coffee event. This dent can be repaired by a paint less dent repair person I am sure.

*Some fading on the headrest of the rear seats due to UV exposure…that hatch glass is huge!

*Other typical wear for its age and miles (floor mats, enter arm rest, tc.)

I think that covers everything but if you have any further questions please contact the dealership. The reason I am selling it through Sport Auto is I travel a lot for work and I used to work at Sport Auto for years and know they will attract the right kind of passionate buyer!
