1970 AMC Javelin Mark Donohue Signature Edition
In the late 60's, s the "Pony Car Wars" raged on the tracks of the Trans Am racing series across America, MC enticed the most successful team of the '68 season, oger Penske and Mark Donohue to campaign the AMC factory team cars during the 1970 - 1972 seasons. AMC also needed to homologate (or legalize) the new AMC Javelin's special features for the 1970 season. SCCA rules mandated that at least 2500 units be built to production standards to support the new twin inlet ("ram air") hood scoop. The main objective was to legalize the use of the very special Mark Donohue designed rear deck spoiler.
All production Mark Donohue Signature Edition Javelins were based upon the fully optioned SST models and featured the distinctive and functional "ram air" hood and rear spoiler. In addition, he console floor shift was standard along with a fully trimmed deluxe bucket seat interior. A 360 engine was the standard configuration, ith thicker webbing in the four bolt main capacity engine block. AMC did not specifically denote or identify Mark Donohue Signature Edition Javelins in VIN, oor tag, r body tag numbers. This car has previously been owned by the owner of Year One and Goodmark industries, s well as fellow enthusiast Drew Alcazar of Russo and Steele Collector car auctions. The car currently shows justunder 10,800 miles on the odometer, epresenting what is believed to be110,650 miles. We purchased the car witha prior owner purporting that the odometer reading is believed to be accurate.
A prestigious collector and highly respected AMC restorer and enthusiast completed this car to an outstanding level of cosmetic and mechanical restoration that is both highly show and road worthy, nd since that time she has been meticulously maintained.
During her restoration, he 360 "wide web" unmarked factory engine was fully rebuilt to stock configuration except for a Competition 268 H camshaft and valve train with complete "K" kit resulting in an incredibly high torque curve from 2200-5000 rpm range. It has the correct 391 C "dogleg" heads, offering superior dogleg exhaust port and studded rocker arm mounts. Her engine sounds wonderfully throaty and mean, nd has a tremendous amount of power.
These were original equipment and will outflow almost all other small block heads. The design is a product of the factory Trans Am racing effort in the late 60's, nd culminated in the winning of the Trans Am Championship in 1972 and 1973. For the 1970 season, he AMC Javelin Trans Am team missed a first place finish to Ford by only 1 point.

It has been invited and shown at various Concours d'Elegance events in the Southern California area, including the prestigious Palos Verdes concours at the Trump golf course, he Los Angeles Concours at the Rose Bowl and the Muckenthaler concours. It has also won first and second-in-class trophies at west coast AMC shows at the Hot Rod Museum in Pomona.
This west coast AMC sports its original configuration of Commodore Blue Metallic over blue Ventilair interior. The prior owner stated:
