Description

This is a 2006 Cadillac DTS and is the (highest end) Performance Series Edition (not the Standard Luxury I, II or III) equipped with the Luxury and Performance packages. It is considered the highest level package of the four DTS type vehicles, with options on the car such as higher horsepower (292 versus the 270 on other models), standard power sunroof, black matte grill, massaging front seats, heated and cooled front seat. Most popular is the premium suspension which adjusts to driving conditions and GPS Navigation generally not offered on other models. The most important fact about this car is that the Northstar NHP Engine was replaced at just over 100k miles. I do not know the circumstances regarding the engine replacement, other than the mileage at which the engine was replaced/exchanged and the cost of the engine replacement which was slightly over a staggering $11,000 dollars. The engine was not "rebuilt" - General Motors installled a brand new engine. The car may have 214k miles, but the engine only has 114k on it, making the decision to purchase a higher mileage car much easier.I had the car listed As late as one week ago, but I was unable to contact the winning bidder, so I am relisting the car. To save money on the nearly $100 fee to relist the car, I am copying the auto check report from the last auction and pasting it below. The auto check score is quite misleading and I will explain why below. I often write too much and can be too descriptive (at least my family and friends tell me this) and it drives some people a little crazy. My opinion is if you are making this expensive of an investment, wouldn't you want to know every detail about the car? I know I would. The following are options listed from Cadillac for this model, I reviewed all and made and added/deleted options accordingly:

The car again has no known maintenance issues, but I will list everything I know about the car below:

1) The car has an extremely smooth ride, however when I am driving down a street and hit a dip/pothole in the road I can feel it on the right/front side. I haven't had that specific issue looked at, but I'm sure the car (simply thinking this from the amount of miles on the car) needs a new shock/strut on that front right side of the car. If you do a lot of highway driving, you will not even notice it. I drive often in the city and notice it maybe once weekly. It gives you a little jolt, but is otherwise harmless.

2) The car has a few small dents which I would consider "minor". They look like "door dings", but a little bit larger. You can see them up close in the pictures. I again had all the damage corrected which was related to the insurance company declaring the car a "total loss", which is the reason for the salvage title designation. I again could have had smaller dings fixed, but I was looking for a dependable car which I could drive long distances. And wasn't overly concerned about the dings. These dings and small dents are again minor in nature. I would estimate there are about a dozen on both sides of the car. I did pay for all of the work repairing all of the glass and having the hood and trunk painted to take care of the key marks.

3) The car has not been in a serious accident, I had the car inspected prior to purchase and this was verified. Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, I bumped into the back of another car at a very low speed and this resulted in very minor damage to the bumper (see pictures). The other driver wanted a police report, despite the minor accident obviously being my fault. I tried to talk him out of doing so. In Texas, any accident goes on your driving record regardless of fault, thus driving up both drivers insurance rates for a period of four years. As far as damage to the Cadillac, you can see a small scuff/scratch on the bumper, and there are no issues with opening or closing the hood. It is barely noticeable in the photos. The damage is strictly cosmetic and does not interfere with operation of the vehicle.

4) The car only came with one key and currently does not have a remote with it. I have a spare remote from another DTS and will try to see if Cadillac can sync the new remote with the car.

6) This model of the Cadillac DTS (Performance) was the only one with BOSE Stereo with GPS Navigation, as well as one of the first cars with GPS Navigation. The GPS is one of the first models, and It may not look as "sharp or new" as more updated GPS (See pictures). While the GPS has been updated to include new streets, etc. there are some brand new streets (3 years old or less) which may or may not show up. In the current age of Iphones, etc. GPS on cars is not always used....or maybe it's just me generally using my Iphone for directions. It is a great BOSE stereo too, with plenty of presets and XM radio (XM radio is equipped but not currently subscribed).

7) There were two owners before me. I can't be 100% sure, but it appears this was a company car used by one employee, and that e "new/second owner was the same company which was under a different name. Regardless, it is obvious the previous owners spared no expense in maintaining this vehicle and taking excellent care of it. The previous owner(s) used the car for work and drove all over rural areas of Virginia but registered the car in Washington D.C. Most all of the miles are highway driven miles in Virginia.

8) The car blows ice cold A/C. If you live in a climate like mine (Texas) you know how valuable this is.

9) All maintenance issues have been taken care of (new radiator, thermostat, new serpentine belt, all fluids changed) leaving the car in great running condition.

10) All features and options on the car work perfectly.

11) The Interior of car is in excellent condition. Everything works and is extremely clean. It is obvious the car has never been smoked in.

12) Tires are high quality and the depth use is between 8 and 9/32nd, meaning greater than 90% of the tread life remains.

13) The wheels on the car are black custom "spoke" style wheels. I am not sure who manufactured the wheels, but they are obviously high quality. Similar ones I priced on the lowest end on eBay sell for about $1,800.00 for a set of 4. The wheels almost assuredly came new with the car. There are several "rock chips" or small nicks on a couple of the wheels, which have simply appeared over time.

You will not be disappointed in the performance of this car. I have never seen or driven a car with over 200k miles run better than this one, or look as nice on the inside. If you can overlook a few dings and small dents, this is a great car for you. The car may not win any beauty pageants, but I would trust this car to easily run to 300k miles. I of course can't know that for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Up close you can see where the car was painted to cover up the key scratches, but they are only noticeable from about 3-4 feet or closer, and you really have to look to find where they were. A decent paint job for the entire car would have cost over $2,000 - Again, if the car was relatively new I might have spent the money. Overall, this is an outstanding car for the value and it comes loaded with options. The car cost nearly 70k bought new in 2006, and it can now be owned for a fraction of the cost. The car is also being sold locally....sale can be cancelled at any time if sold locally.

The text below is the "auto-check" report run on the car. I copied it from the last listing.
