This was the last of the shoe box Chevys and they didn’t look anything like the previous two years. That had a new grill. bumper. and outback they had a set of fins. The one we have is a Matching #s 283 car that has had a few upgrades to make it better to drive and enjoy. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior. interior. and heartbeat of the Chevy. but first we would like to tell you a little about us. Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned. operated. and own our entire inventory. no consignments. and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 50 to 60 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So. that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. When you walk around it you can see the body is solid and very straight. It has good gaps around the doors. hood and trunk. Everything is covered in the Matador Red that shows very well with a deep rich shine that is slick to the touch. All the jams look good as well as under the hood and trunk. The bumpers appear to have bene either replaced ore removed and polished. All the glass is good as well as the seals. The weather stripping appears to have been replaced. probably at the time of the repaint. When you look at the stainless it lines up and shows well. To give it a modern look it’s sitting on a set of 18” and 20” American Racing Wheels with New Tires. Next. we will take a look at the interior of the Hard Top. On the inside it has the stock style interior that complements the exterior scheme perfectly. It’s done with the Red Vinyl and Black Cloth inserts. Also. it has the black carpet and the stock red and black door panels. When you look at the dash it’s as it was in ’57 with the exception of the radio that has been upgraded to an AM FM. Finally. we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it’s powered by the Matching #s 283 with the Correct Power Glide. It has been dressed to the max with Aluminum Valve covers. Breather and Intake that are polished. Also. it has the Chrome Brakes Booster and Master cylinder along with a Chrome Alternator and Polished AC Compressor. The exhaust has Shorty Coated Headers with duals. To keep it cool it has an Aluminum Radiator. All the A/C and Heater Hoses are neat and the battery was moved to the trunk to keep everything clean. This ’57 has Power Rack and Pinon Steering and Four Wheel Power Disc Brakes. When you look under it the floor pans and body mounts look very good as well as the frame. This ’57 has the best of both worlds with great driver options and some excellent traditional features.
