Description

1958 Chevrolet Apache short bed step-side. deluxe cab. big back window pickup truck. It came from southern California and now resides in Texas. In the summer of 2014. the truck was stripped down to the frame and the fab work began. All major fab work/chassis build was completed by Hale’s Speed Shop in Lewisville. TX. The quality of their work is top notch and they specialize in air-ride/LS swaps. Here is a link to their Facebook page. which contains a lot of pictures of their builds and more pictures of this truck under “58 Apache Stepside”. https://www. facebook. com/pages/Hales-Speed-Shop/350183965091067 This is a frame off restoration. every nut and bolt on the chassis is new and/or restored. We built this truck to drive. so I made the decision to leave the body and paint/panels in their as-is condition and drive the hell out of it. The paint is in good shape. but not perfect. There are no dents or any body panels with any damage whatsoever. With a good wax/buff. the paint shines and is still in really good shape. The paint looks to be roughly 10-years old. but that’s a guess. Front end – replaced with a FatMan Fabrication IFS with tubular control arms. power rack & pinion steering. urethane bushings. custom motor mounts. modified shock towers. drop spindles. boxed front section of frame and 12” disk brakes. Rear section – the rear section is complete with a custom C-notch and tubular supports. custom 2-link with new trailing arms. modified shock towers. adjustable panhard bar. and custom CNC machined bag mounts. Behind the C-notch is a custom fuel cell mounting system with CNC machined top mounts. Rear end – Ford 9” built by Quick Performance. Strange Engineering center section with 3. 50 gears. Moser axles. billet pinion support. 12” disk brakes. custom mounts for brake lines. panhard bar. shocks. etc. After chassis work was complete. the frame was powder-coated in satin black by Quality Powder Coatings in Carrollton. TX. It came out beautiful and is smooth as butter. The power plant for this truck was pulled from a 2007 Chevy Silverado with 79k original miles and is a 6. 0L LQ4 with a 4L80E transmission. Motor accessories include a Magic Stick cam. PRC valve springs. chromemoly 7. 40 pushrods. custom headers. Edelbrock Victor Jr intake manifold. Edelbrock aluminum fuel rails. Edelbrock throttle body. LS1 injectors. K&N air filter assembly. and F-body oil pan assembly. The trans converter was replaced with a new Vigilante unit from Precision Converter. 9. 5” single disk lockup. New. custom length drive-shaft that will handle a ton of horsepower. Have not dyno’d. so not sure on true HP to the wheels. Radiator with electric fans also added. Fuel system – 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell from Aeromotive. including high performance internal fuel pump and pre-pump filter. baffling system to prevent slosh. AN-08 vents with roller valves. All new fuel lines from front to rear. This is a high dollar fuel system and will take you to 100k miles with no issues. I recently drove this truck to the Lonestar Roundup in Austin and made it from Dallas to Austin on one tank of gas. with about a ¼ tank left over. Air-Ride – This truck lays frame and sits on the ground. You can't get any lower that where this truck sits when laid out. 4-wheel air-ride. Firestone bags. 2 Viar compressors. single 5-gal tank. new valves. Air ride is controlled via a Viair dual needle gauge and two paddle valves. A custom control panel is on the bottom of the dash. to the right of the steering column. This system is flawless. The second to last picture shows the ride height of this truck on normal roads. Brake System – Kugel Components hydra-boost brake system. Willwood master cylinder. custom cut cables. 4-wheel disks with 12” rotors. and custom bent brake lines. The hydra-boost setup stops this truck on a dime. Wheels/Tires – Wheel Vintiques O. E. chrome steelies with Bridgestone wide whites – 15x5 front with 205/75. 15x7 rear with 235/70 Wiring Harness – brand new Painless wiring harness. as well as a new PSI stand-alone engine harness. Wiring is extremely neat and clean! No grounding issues. no shorts. just perfect wiring front to back. Firewall – all unnecessary holes were welded up. smoothed and painted flat black to match the inner fenders. With the 4L80 trans. a custom trans tunnel had to be cut. Sound insulation/deadener – the entire cab was sprayed with Lizard Skin sound dampening and insulation. 3 coats of each. It was followed up with a layer of FatMat deadener. Steering – Ididit tilt steering column and column mounts. custom linkages. The steering wheel is a reproduction 1940 Ford style 15” wheel. Gauges – Classic Instruments Tach Force gauges (part # TF01W) in white. Includes 140MPH speedo. 8k RPM tach. fuel. oil. temp and volt with LED turn signals and high beam indicator. Came complete with new chrome bezel and wiring. All gauges work as they should. Radio – RetroSound Apache radio with blue tooth. USB connections. microphone for phone calls. etc. 2 JL 6x9’s in individual boxes behind seat. Bed floor – the bed floor had to be raised to clear the C-notch. so a bolt in frame was constructed from angle iron. The bed has the same wood bed floor that came in it when I bought. as well as the chrome strips. This bed floor is extremely sturdy and can hold a ton of weight. Bed floor fabricated by John Dodson of Anything Automotive in Lake Dallas. TX. Interior – the interior in this truck is as I got it and I have not touched it. It is in very good condition with no tears or rips in the seat or door panels. There are no holes in the dash. Everything that should work. does work. Lights. blinkers. horn. wipers. etc. Misc additions - LED taillight. Optima red top battery There are a ton of odd’s/end’s that I have not listed here. The parts list is extremely long and I have over $25k in parts in this truck. so rest assured nothing has been overlooked. Every nut and bolt on the chassis are new. so this is as close to a full frame off job as you will get. Save yourself the time and hassle of doing it yourself or waiting for a shop to complete a long term build. As noted above. I recently drove this truck to the Lonestar Roundup in Austin. total trip was over 600-miles. The truck operated flawlessly and has never left me stranded or given me any issues of any kind. It starts every time. all the time. This is the reliable truck that everyone is looking for. I also have for sale a Vintage Air Surefit AC system for this truck. but it is not included in the purchase price of this auction. The winning bidder will have the option to buy this AC setup for an additional $1. 00 on top of the purchase price. If you’ve priced AC systems. this is a good discount to the retail price of the setup. I’m selling to chase another project. looking for a traditional styled 30’s – 40’s car. Prefer 5-window coupes. business coupes. etc I’m not desperate to sell. so please keep your low ball offers to yourself. If you don’t know the value of this truck. please do your research before contacting me. If you have any questions whatsoever. feel free to contact me and I’ll give you the details you need to make a sound decision on the purchase of this truck. I will help with shipping that the buyer arranges. However. this is a truck that you can “fly and buy”. then drive home across the country. I’m 100% confident in this truck and its ability to travel cross country. Truck is sold as-is. where is. with no warranty expressed or implied. $1. 00 deposit due within 48-hours of auction close. remaining due within 7-days. On Apr-27-15 at 10:43:34 PDT. seller added the following information:Paint - I've received alot of questions on the paint. I'm guessing it's 10 years old and is driver quality. not perfect. The body is in good shape and there are no dents or any areas with major damage. The truck has been driven for X-years after it was painted. so there are nicks and scratches on this truck. I have preferred to keep the imperfections as-is and not change anything. I'll include a small bottle of touch up paint with the sale so the buyer can decide what they want to fix or leave alone. If you want any up close pictures. feel free to reach out to me and I'll do my best to photograph any areas you need.
