Description

Complete factory air-conditioningDISC brakesPaint code 26 Mulsanne Blue1969 HN suffix 300hp 350c. u. SS trim added to achieve desired appearanceNot all cars are created equal. or Nova's for that matter. I've been collecting primarily General Motors cars and trucks for almost 3 decades now. I certainly have my favorites within the Chevrolet family and '68-'72 Nova's are on the top of my list. Some cars are just well put together and that best describes this Nova. I'm a purest at heart and pretty picky about the cars I have in my collection. That being said. I love this Nova exactly like it is and wouldn't change anything. My opinion must be on firm ground because anybody that has seen the car agrees with me. Even the gray primer spots that are present on the car only add to it's appeal. thus the reason I left them!! If the next owner chooses to have those areas spot-painted. so be it. The paint on the car is actually very nice so painting those isolated areas would be fairly easy. I still say that would be a big mistake. The overall appearance of the car is outstanding and I receive countless unsolicited positive comments every time I take her out. She currently sits in the garage next to my Camaro Convertible and '55 Belair (both exceptional cars) and the Nova gets the most attention. Again. some cars simply appeal to a larger group than others. This Nova has excellent history being with only 3 owners since new. It's a very solid car with gorgeous undersides and beautiful trunk. Never molested in any way. One correct color repaint done 20+ years ago. Very nice interior. The drive-train is very well sorted from radiator to rear end and is an absolute joy to drive. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words but to those of you that prefer as many written details as possible I will continue the description process under many of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Nova in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles as I could think of. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is 503-575-0404 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Monday evening. the 4th of May at 7:30PM Pacific. I'm looking for a genuine buyer. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I'm contacted and accept an offer and the car becomes no longer available. *If you are outside of the U. S. or Canada. PLEASE contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine. *Everyone. please be sure to read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable and kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my Nova. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see in my driveway at home the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time. DAVE The interior is in very nice condition. Almost entirely original with the exception of the seats being re-done. Headliner. door panels. rear side panels and dashboard are in great shape. The carpet shows some wear under the floor mats. The front and back seat were recovered many years ago. They did a wonderful job and they match the car beautifully. I researched the engine numbers extensively. Stampings are V1I01HN. The HN designates high performance. I also decoded the ID numbers on the right side of that pad as well. They are 19J160618. It's an early 1969 350-300hp for turbo-350 application. This motor has been in the car for a long time and is one of the cars biggest attributes. It performs incredibly well. An Edelbrock intake and carburetor were added upgrades. The air-conditioning system is original and complete. This car has a look that is second to none. It has the perfect sit and stance from every angle. The wheel and tire package are perfection and the color is by most opinions one of GM's best. The body and paint are very nice. The primered areas where minor repairs were performed are done beautifully. Although the original color repaint is over 20 years old. it has held up superbly. The paint holds a high shine and gloss with clear reflections visible within the finish everywhere you look. Tiny flaws in the form of minor rock chips and very superficial blemishes can be found under close inspection. The car shows and presents itself extremely well and at 44 years old is a very proud example and one of the best I've seen in many years. Body panel fit. gaps and alignment are excellent. Both doors. hood and trunk open and close easily. Original bumpers. chrome. grille area and all exterior moldings are excellent. The Super Sport simulated hood vents and SS rear panel are new. All glass is crystal clear and excellent as well. Every window rolls up and down with 2 fingers. The appearance of the car is amazing. She deserves each and every compliment she receives. Just a beautiful car Absolutely everything on the car works! Even the license plate and back-up lights. This small ding is magnified by the reflection. It is very small and one of only two such dings on the entire car. The other is also on the driver side fender but was too small for my camera to show. As the beginning of the write-up clearly states. the SS accessories were added. My personal touches to the car are the Super Sport hood vents. grille badge and tail panel. I'm also responsible for the wheel and tire choice. My goal was to give the car a Pro-Touring look. Mission accomplished. It's a one of a kind which was my intention. The grille. bumper and all front area trim is 100% original. The bright work and stainless moldings on the car are in very nice shape. She's as fun to drive as she looks. Some cars just have a good feel to them. That is certainly true when it comes to this Nova. Very user friendly. no quirks and a pleasure to sit behind the wheel of. One of the best driving classics I've ever had. Several years ago. the 2nd owner installed a car cover to protect things in the garage from damaging the finish. Yard tools. the kids bicycles. etc. It was a cheap cover but only intended to keep direct contact away from the paint. Unfortunately. cheap covers can sweat. That small amount of trapped moisture over the years caused flaws in the isolated areas that are now in primer. Again. I actually appreciate the look of the car with the gray primer and will most likely perform this treatment to a future member of my collection even if there is no reason other than desired appearance. On this Nova they really do give the car a tough and amazing attitude. The view from my front porch. Looking down the sides of the car is impressive. She is incredibly straight as you get down on your knees and look down the sides. No waviness or washboard effect anywhere. That's me in the reflection holding the camera. Hello. You can see the pattern of my shirt. The paint really does hold an exceptional shine. Even the lower corners of the windshield where it meets the dashboard are excellent and free of corrosion. All glass is crystal clear. The wheel and tire combination was researched thoroughly before a final decision was made. I was going for a very specific look and attitude. The results of those efforts are a success. The wheels are 18x8 front and rear with staggered tire sizes. The fronts are 225-45 and the rears are 245-45 As mentioned previously. the car is extremely straight from all angles. Fast lane at 72 miles an hour with one finger on the steering wheel. All of the interior is very nice. No excuses required. I'm a somewhat picky person so in the interest of being fussy I would say that the drivers seat shows very slight use. Headliner is perfect. Original dash pad is mint. Everything functions correctly. Every light. every gauge. wipers. heater and even the horn all work perfectly. I do not know what that arrow shaped switch next to the wiper switch is. I'm assuming that it was a delay for the wipers at some point. Current odometer reading. Speedometer is accurate and mileage turns perfectly but has obviously rolled over. I don't have enough records to document total miles traveled in the last 44 years. The Pioneer radio is from the late 1980's. I know because I was in my 20's and worked at a stereo store during that era. It works fine. Earlier I said that everything on the car works. That is absolutely true. Even the emergency brake light comes on when you set it. Gauges always show great readings. Original stamps on both quarter panels. The engine runs extremely well. Acceleration is impressive especially when kicked down into passing gear. I have no knowledge of the motors history. previous rebuilds. cam specs. etc. Based on my 30+ years of experience with Chevrolet small blocks. it appears to still be a stock engine. No lumpy cam. Just a crisp and tight performing motor. No ticks. misses. knocks or abnormal noises of any kind. Bottom line- Mechanically the car is well sorted with all components operating as intended. VERY RARE- All of the original. factory installed A/C components are still in-place and hooked up. It is currently not operating but 100% complete. At the least a servicing will be required. The electric choke Edelbrock carburetor is nearly new. PLEASE NOTE: While taking these photos here at home I noticed that the brake master cylinder was leaking. A recent occurrence. It will be replaced immediately! The brakes stop perfectly. I will make sure that remains the case for the next owner. An H. E. I. distributor was installed for reliability purposes. Factory multi-leaf rear suspension and highway geared 10-bolt. non-posi rear end is tight and church quiet. Normally. I'm a Flowmaster muffler guy period! I just couldn't bring myself to change the sound of this car. It has a great tone in all ranges. Whether it's sitting at idle. driving down the road at a steady speed or accelerating as you get on the freeway and jump up to 70mph. she sounds perfect. And. as you drive at highway speeds the car is quiet inside. It just doesn't get better than that. I hate it when good sounding exhaust turns the interior into an echo-chamber. This car is just right. Just like the trunk area. the undersides are what we hope to find. 100% solid with NO rust issues ever. As I said before. I have limited information regarding the cars mechanical history. The previous owner had the car for over 10 years and put less than 200 miles on it. However. I have 20/20 vision and almost a lifetime spent with cars from this generation. I believe the transmission was rebuilt and has traveled very little since. It shifts perfectly even when kicked down into passing gear. My explorations of underneath the car have discovered minor typical fluid seepage but nothing causing puddles on my garage floor. While snapping the underside pics I did notice a trans fluid drip on the speedo cable where it goes into the transmission. Probably a rubber o-ring that has gotten dry due to the car primarily sitting for the last 20 years. The car has obviously been maintained. Brakes are near new (I had those done). suspension and steering components are tight and sound and the car drives beautifully. An easy car to enjoy. Unheard of to find an undercarriage in this condition. The original undercoating removed easily from the areas where I exposed the floors. Absolutely gorgeous. Detailing the undersides would be a fairly easy and rewarding task. Factory trim-tag Matching VIN on title and registration. The clean and clear Oregon certificate of title is here at home. The ownership paperwork that comes with the car is easily transferable to any State in the U. S. and exactly what the border folks hope to see for smooth crossing if she leaves the country. I'm hoping that my appreciation for this Nova is contagious and that your impression is fully formed by now. It's more than worthy of sitting next to the other members of my collection. It has been a joy to own and an even bigger pleasure to drive.
