Description

1964 CORVAIR MONZA SPYDER TURBO CONVERTIBLE Up for your consideration and at “NO RESERVE” is this beautiful 1964 Corvair Spyder Convertible VIN # 40667W235365. This Corvair is equipped with GM’s rear mount horizontally opposed Turbocharged 150hp 6cyl motor mated to a manual 4 speed transmission. The motor has been re-built roughly 10k miles ago by well-known Corvair restorer Barry Owens out of Lexington NC. At that time. he also added an upgraded 180hp Turbo charger for a bit more power and boost. This Spyder Convertible is showing what we believe to be an original 72K miles on the odometer. The paint color is Bahama Green with a fawn interior and fawn convertible top. This Spyder convertible is a great looking collector car and somewhat of a rare little car that would be right at home at any local car show or cruise in. How many factory turbocharged engines were around in the 60’s? The body and the paint looks very nice even though it’s an older paint job done in the late 90’s. The car has even won a few trophies in its earlier days when it was shown. More recently. this car was judged April 25th of this year at the Corvair Springfest in Helen Ga. in the concours division where it scored a respectable 84. 61 points. The body panels all line up nicely with good seems. The interior also looks clean. original and in nice condition with the driver’s seat showing a bit of wear. The dash pad also has a few small slits from age but again is original and is covered to prevent further damage. The convertible top is in good condition and really compliments the exterior color very well. The floors and trunk pan are both very solid with no rust. The car runs and drives extremely well and does not pull or wander. All the electrical components and gauges work as they should except the Am radio. The only real options to mention are the wood steering wheel. chrome bumper guards. Auxiliary lighting for the trunk and 3 Bar Wire wheel covers. This is just a real nice and fun 51 year old classic car that you can get in and enjoy right away without worrying about it being too expensive to drive or leave parked in town. Please take the time to look at the many current pictures and please feel free to ask all the questions you wish. This Corvair is being sold by a good friend of mine that has asked for my computer assistance listing it on eBay.
