Description

I think this 1969 El Camino is the ultimate hobby car. Now bear with me for a moment, ut you can already see where I'm going with this. One, t has the same great looks as a Chevelle but with that bed, t can still carry anything you can throw at it: bikes, amping gear, kis, nd even 2x4s for that new deck. Two, t packs a fresh 427 cubic inch V8 that makes all the right muscle car sounds with performance to match. And three, t costs a lot less than a comparable Chevelle would. How's that for a slam-dunk?The bright red paint simply looks amazing on any late-60s Chevy, nd thanks to the ministrations of some talented guys this one looks ready to collect some trophies. Clean sheetmetal makes it look easy, ut there's a good-sized investment in the gorgeous two-stage urethane finish, hich also incorporates black stripes on the hood, oof, nd tailgate, hich, hile not totally authentic, ooks spectacular. Those long quarter panels are laser straight and haven't been bashed from the inside by years of hard work and experts will note that the side marker lights out back have been shaved for a smooth look. Just a glance in the bed will reveal that it's either been completely restored or this was a really nice Elky to begin with (or both). A blacked-out SS grille in great condition, right chrome bumpers, nd correct badges where needed give it a handsome look that will always attract attention at the local cruise night.Like its Chevelle siblings, he interior of the El Camino is a great place to spend some time. The black bench seat wears a recent cover that looks great and with red piping, t perfectly matches the bodywork. New carpets and door panels help give it a fresh look that's tasteful but clearly better than stock. The vent windows are a great part of the car's charm, ith the ability to keep things breezy and cool, ut if it does get too hot, t does have a powerful A/C system and power windows. An AM/FM/iPod stereo system has been stuffed into the original dash and powers a set of cleverly-mounted 6x9 speakers behind the seat. Dakota Digital supplied a full array of gauges that fit neatly in the original pods and a space-saver spare has been stashed behind the seats as well, ust in case. Someone was clearly thinking carefully when this El Camino went together. Traditional horsepower comes from a freshly rebuilt 427 cubic inch V8 that's been built just for service in this El Camino. An Edelbrock carb and matching intake manage the fuel and for the most part they kept it fairly stock-looking under the hood, hich means it's a strong runner that'll stay that way for years to come. A few chrome dress-up parts add a little flash, nd there's a big aluminum radiator keeping everything cool. What that means is that you're cleared to take it for a drive without worries about the vitals. In addition to the modern A/C, here's power steering and brakes, o this truck is as easy to drive as any Chevelle. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear make for a reliable powertrain, nd handsome Torque Thrusts with 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials look great.Packing big horsepower, wesome bodywork, nd a very comfortable interior, his is the El Camino that will be a joy to drive anytime and useful when you need it.
