Description

THIS IS NOT THE 61 PARKWOOD THAT WAS JUST LISTED. This car has the numbers matching 283 and cast iron Powerglide. Engine runs but smokes some. May clean up as it has some already. Transmission has all gears but car has no brakes other than park brake. Previous owner added 2" lowered front spindles but didn't add the disc brakes. I am planning to order the disc brake kit and install it ASAP. Car was parked from 1972 until 2 months ago and still has the 1972 Oklahoma license plate that was on it. Took me 3 days to get it started. Someone had tightened all of the valves down. the points and coil were bad. and mice had chewed most of the plug wires off. I put a new coil on it. new spark plugs. a good set of plug wires. nbsp;changed oil and filter. repaired some other wires. and adjusted the valves/rocker arms to let it breathe. Once I did that and closed the choke. it started right up. Smoked like crazy for a few minutes but cleaned up. It runs good with no bottom end noise but the lifters on the left bank still need some adjustment as one is ticking. My conclusion about the engine is that if it doesn't clean up completely in terms of smoking. I believe a set of rings and valve job will bring it back to 100%. It has NO bottom end noise. However. this auction also includes an 86 Camaro parts car with excellent 350 and 5 speed in case the buyer would rather go that route. Car is pretty much trashed out other than the drive train. I have driven it. and driven it HARD. to ensure the drive train is good. This is one of the most complete and straight 1961 restoration cars you will find. To the best of my knowledge. the only things missing are the jack. radio. heater core. and 2 stock 14" steel wheels. I have 2 stock wheels and all four (4) dog dish hubcaps in amazing condition. It now has a complete set of 72 Chevelle/Camaro rallye wheels with all trim rings and centers and good tires on it. The only damage to the car. other than parking lot dings. nbsp;is the front gravel shield which is bent but repairable. Bumpers are both good. The car has a lien on the title thus the Reserve. I am only looking to pay it off and have set the Reserve as low as I can. My banker will release the lien upon verification of a sale. Car is subject to prior sale as it is also posted locally. A minimum of $500 cash is due and payable within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Transportation is the sole responsibility of the buyer but I will assist in any way I can.
