Maintenance Records SELLER REMARKS We'll admit that this 1971 Chevrolet Nova isn't exactly subtle. but what's under the skin is a lot more than most folks would have expected. The lightweight bodywork is filled with a snarling small block V8 and the hardware to back it up. making this a car to be respected on the streets and at the track. That yellow paint looks great on the Nova's semi-fastback bodywork and yes. it is how this one came from the factory: code 52 Sunflower Yellow. Of course. back in 1971. they didn't have modern urethane paint. so it looks better now than it ever did and thanks to a recent wet sand and buff. The black Z/28-style stripes were added and the Nova wears them well. and they've been painted on. so they're not decals that'll fade and peel. However. aside from the stripes. the bodywork is pretty stock. including an original flat hood instead of the ubiquitous cowl induction unit you see so often. Decent gaps and lots of block sanding before the paint went on pays off with a car that looks like it's had a lot of time and money invested in it. and the shiny bits still shine up beautifully. SS badges were added somewhere along the way. but given how this car looks. that's hardly a demerit. The black interior looks great thanks to a freshening not too long ago using reproduction seat covers and new carpets to give it an almost-new look. Again. it's nice to see that they didn't go overboard with upgrades and modifications. sticking with the factory equipment for seats. door panels. and even the steering wheel. On the other hand. things that help it work better in the heat of battle are definitely welcome. including the Hurst quarter-stick shifter and a full set of Auto Meter Ultra Lite gauges in a slick carbon fiber insert that's a neat fit in the vintage Nova. The dash pad and door panels are in great condition and the back seat could very well be original. It's definitely no-frills. but remember the old drag racer's rule: less weight is like more horsepower. and every little bit helps. The Nova's also a practical muscle car with a good-sized trunk that has floors in good condition with spatter finish paint and a full-sized spare tire. The 350 cubic inch V8 has just the right balance of horsepower and reliability. Thanks to upgrades like an Edelbrock aluminum intake. an upgraded cam. and a big Holley 4-barrel carburetor it has instant throttle response and pulls like a freight train. An electric fuel pump keeps it fed and there's a Mallory electronic ignition system to light it all up. Long tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers give it that wicked exhaust note that gets attention without getting annoying and the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission has lightning-quick reflexes. A sturdy 10-bolt rear end doesn't seem to mind the horsepower and the suspension sits just right with enough of a rake to give it an awesome stance without ruining ride quality. Traditional Weld Drag Lite wheels give it a racetrack look and carry staggered 165R15 front and 255/60/15 rear blackwall radials. A neat little Nova packing a big surprise. this is just about the most fun per dollar in our showroom. With maintenance receipts and a proven combination. you can buy this one with confidence.
