This auction is for a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze finished in Switchblade Silver Metallic with the Jet Black interior. Free delivery incentives of up to 1,000 miles are offered, details of which are described at the end of the listing. The Cruze is powered by a dual overhead cam 16-valve four cylinder Ecotec engine that has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for it’s high power output, excellent economy and inherent smoothness. This engine features a cast iron block for maximum durability along with a structural aluminum oil pan that reduces noise and vibration, an aluminum cylinder head for reduced weight and greater heat dissipation, variable valve timing for maximum power output at all engine speeds, an electronic “drive by wire” throttle body for precise engine control and an electronically controlled thermostat combined with an integrated oil cooler to keep the engine operating at it’s peak efficiency.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control (DSC®). This transmission has low first and second gears that provide brisk acceleration, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent gas mileage. With Driver Shift Control you can move the shifter to the left and then tap it up or down to shift the transmission like a manual for more control on winding roads and provide greater power and acceleration for passing maneuvers. Integrated into the transmission is an all-season Traction Control System (TCS®) which helps to get you through ice and snow covered roads with ease, and the StabiliTrak® system which is an advanced electronic stability program (ESP) that helps the car stay on the road through curves and abrupt maneuvers. Rounding out the Cruze powertrain is a chassis made to smooth out your daily commute while still having fun on twisting roads. Start off with a MacPherson strut independent front suspension, Watts Z-link rear suspension and light weight aluminum wheels. Add rack and pinion Electric Power Steering (EPS) for precise road feel, and a stiffer chassis design than many other small vehicles, and you have a car that is quicker, faster and handles better than many others in it’s class.

This Cruze is a rebuilt salvage car that sustained damage to the right side of the vehicle. The quarter panel, a.k.a uniside panel, B pillar and rocker panel were replaced with new parts and both doors were replaced with identical color used doors in order minimize the required paintwork. To that end, the front fender has a small ding that isn’t too obvious looking and to avoid painting the fender too, was left alone. The car was subsequently inspected by the Maryland state police where they thoroughly go over and inspect the car to make sure it’s roadworthy again and to verify the repairs were done properly. Then the salvage title was converted to a regular title so it can be registered and driven in any state. CLICK HERE to see the title.

I am fully disclosing that this car has salvage history, (although not all other sellers do), which is why it’s priced many thousands below other Cruze models listed here. Eventually whenever YOU sell the vehicle let your conscience be your guide as to disclosing that information. Don’t worry too much about the history, remember, you are buying a car, not a piece of paper. Also keep in mind when it comes time to sell it, salvage history on an older vehicle is not as significant as on a late model one, so if you keep the car for 3 years, 5 years or over 10 more years, an older vehicle with salvage history is only worth slightly less than one without it. If you are one of those persons that are leery about salvage cars in general, then this car is probably not for you. If you are one of those who are familiar with salvage vehicles, you will understand that at thousands of dollars below what other Cruze models sell for with similar mileage (if you can even find a 2012 with four figure mileage) what a good value a car like this is. And if you worry that the warranty is cancelled on a salvage car, remember that it’s already over three years old so the 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on any 2012 Cruze has expired by now.

The styling of the Chevy Cruze features clean highly sculpted lines and distinct angles while adding bold and aggressive elements to form a beautiful modern design. If you are tired of other cars with bland organic or jellybean styling, the Cruze is the automobile for you. A quick walk around the car reveals how the Cruze is one of the most stylish vehicles ever created in the compact class of automobiles. From up front, its sharp sleek lines with black bi-level honeycomb grille, steeply raked windshield, clear lens headlights and jewel effect reflectors flow into sweeping curves along the sides of the car with body colored mirrors and door handles for a monochromatic look. Then, going back, they meld into large wheel arches filled with wide low profile tires mounted on some of the best looking wheels ever produced by a car maker, bright machine finish and clearcoated five spoke rims that would look great on a Camaro or Corvette. Then at the rear you have a short trunk lid with a spoiler and a roof mounted Euro-style antenna, suggesting this car is ready to take off at any moment. It’s chic Euro-styling that looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. It takes numerous styling cues from pricier German sports sedans as well as creating some that are all it’s own. It’s no coincidence that the Cruze is based on an Opel design from Germany.

As stylish as the outside is, the inside is just as nice with a high tech design that is feast for the eyes and senses. Borrowed from the Corvette, its twin-cockpit design is both functional and beautiful to look at. Get in and sit down in a leather bucket seat that feels supportive yet comfortable for a 12 hour drive. Adjust the seat to the perfect driving position with the 6-way power adjustment knob and manual recline function. Then grab the thick padded leather wrapped steering wheel and adjust the tilt steering column to achieve complete driving control. Notice how the steering wheel mounted cruise control and infotainment switches are just a fingertip away. Next, look ahead at the dashboard that flows seamlessly into the door panels noting the sporty two-tone trim. The instrument cluster is trimmed with titanium bezels and is backlit with light-emitting diode (LED) technology that provides a cool-blue illumination of the analog gauges and a Driver Information Center (DIC) displays vital functions and warnings. Now glance at the center stack and how simple the radio and climate controls are to operate with functions being displayed on the Infotainment Display Screen (IDS). Look right and left at the titanium accents on the console, dash and shifter, along with chrome surrounds on various knobs and switches and the premium leather upholstery that has a soft supple feel. Finally, take a deep breath through your nose and take in that new car smell that can’t be duplicated by any sprays or pine tree air fresheners. Not only is the styling beautiful to see, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the soft grip feel of the steering wheel, the leather seat upholstery, the textured graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches throughout the cabin, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive car.

The car is in excellent condition inside and out as you would expect a 6,000 mile car to be. The paint has been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic Wax for a high gloss shine. The interior leather has been treated with Lexol conditioner to keep it soft and supple. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The cargo area looks like it was never used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of.

Mechanically it runs and drives excellent. The engine runs strong and feels smooth while accelerating and throughout the cruising range and it starts instantly whether hot or cold. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. All the warning lights in the dash come on when you first turn the key and then go off like they are supposed to. It has the original set of Firestone tires in excellent condition.

The car comes with both switchblade key remotes:

A set of factory floormats:

A new oil change with the correct AC Delco Dexos oil:

And a AC Delco/Hengst oil filter:

The Chevy Cruze is as economical to operate, as it is to maintain. Those who drive with restraint can expect over 40 MPG at steady highway speeds. And most systems have low or reduced maintenance components. For example, it has hydraulic valve lifters that never need adjusting unlike some cars that need regular valve adjustments. It uses an oil-life monitor system that calculates optimum oil change intervals based on miles driven and driving conditions. A car that is driven in the city with frequent starts and stops requires more frequent oil changes than a highway driven car which under optimum conditions may go 10,000 miles between changes. It uses platinum tipped spark plugs and an advanced specification transmission fluid, both of which only need to be changed every 100,000 miles, extended life coolant with a 150,000 mile service interval, and a maintenance free fuel filter that only needs replacement if the pump is replaced. Also, much of the exhaust system is stainless steel and should last the life of the car.

While the Cruze doesn’t cost much to drive, it’s still loaded with all the safety features found in more expensive cars. To avoid crashes in the first place, the Cruze has Anti-Lock Brakes, StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System, an All-Season Traction Control System (TCS), daytime running lamps and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). If a collision is unavoidable, the Cruze is equipped with numerous active systems to minimize injuries. It has a class leading ten airbags that cushion impacts, including two front airbags, two side airbags, four head curtain airbags, and the latest technology with two knee airbags that help submarining injuries. In addition, there are passive crush zones and the cabin is reinforced with high-strength steel throughout.

Because of the salvage history, this Chevy Cruze will be the cheapest one you will find with such low mileage until a few years of depreciation have reduced the prices of the other ones to the level of this one. It could be many years before that happens, so if you’ve always wanted a Chevy Cruze but thought you just didn’t quite have enough funds to purchase one, this car may just have your name on it. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either.

If you are serious about buying a Chevy Cruze, this is as low as they go by far. Also remember that we don’t have dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since nobody is going to risk loosing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says “User ID kept private.” Also, because my reserve is close to the Buy It Now price, don’t think that you will get a much better deal if you just keep bidding it up instead of using B.I.N., especially if you need it delivered.

TERMS OF THE AUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Since this car may be advertised locally, auction can be canceled at any time (unless auction ended early with BUY IT NOW) due to prior sale without liability to any bidder. A down payment of $500 (plus any additional delivery charge) is required within 3 days of the close of the auction, balance due in cash on delivery or certified funds on delivery if I deliver it or you pick it up, or before it’s dropped off at the transporter if a shipping company is transporting it, but no later than 7 days after the close of the auction without prior agreement. I accept bank or certified checks, money orders, credit cards through PayPal (accepted for down payment only). If paying balance with funds other than cash, buyer to fax copy of monetary instrument no less than 24 hours before picking up vehicle.

The car is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect car BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out on your behalf provided you authorize whoever is checking the car to provide me with a copy of the results. I have tried to accurately describe this car, both mechanically and cosmetically but you can expect a certain amount of minor flaws on ANY used car including squeaks, rattles, drips, nicks, chips, scratches, blemishes and any other marks that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is no possible way to include all minute details and imperfections, however, I believe my listing accurately depicts this vehicle and if there are any issues they are noted in the description.

In fairness to all bidders the reserve price will not be disclosed so please don’t even ask.

Buyer responsible for transportation and car must be paid for in full before it can be released. May deliver. Email or call for delivery quote or for any other questions. Maryland and District of Columbia dealer. Phone 202-246-5201. Please do not bid if you don’t intend to buy.

FREE DELIVERY TERMS: Free delivery within 500 miles of the Washington DC area if bidder purchases vehicle with Buy It Now. (35 cents per mile for additional miles as shown in from zip code 20001 to your address.) That is still the same rate as when I started on Ebay 16 years ago. Remember, the Buy It Now option disappears once the reserve price is met. The Buy It Now price is $9,995.

AUCTION ENDS: 10:00pm sharp, EASTERN TIME Friday August 5th unless Buy It Now is used.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR QUICK SALE: DOUBLE THE FREE DELIVERY RANGE: Use Buy It Now before the halfway point in the auction, 10:00pm EASTERN TIME Sunday July 31st and I will double the free delivery miles to 1,000 miles total.
