Description

My grandpa bought this car new. I bought it from him 31 years ago. It hasn't seen snow for 32 years. It had a rust spot in front of the left rear tire that was fixed 30 some years ago, as well as a spot at the lower front corner of each door. A rust spot was fixed above the left wheel also. It was painted with basecoat/clearcoat polyurethane about 18 years ago. The headliner is original and looks new. The vinyl top is original and in excellent condition. The car has been garage kept almost its entire life. The seats were vinyl and started cracking, so I had them reupholstered entirely in leather. They look and feel wonderful, and make the interior smell good. At the same time, I had the carpet replaced and the dash covered with upholstery. The engine is original except for the timing chain and gears, which I replaced with a double roller in 1995 because I was concerned that the OEM plastic coated gear would fail. When I took it apart, it still looked fine. The 350THM transmission developed a noise, so I replaced it with a rebuilt 350C in 1992. This car has been running on propane since 1990. I built the hitch mainly to protect the fuel tank, but used it to occasionally pull small trailers. The buyer has the choice of it remaining propane or I will convert it back to gasoline at no extra cost. I kept the gas tank, carburetor, fuel pump, etc. I replaced the tires about three years ago, they are Mastercraft Courser 235/75/15, and have less than 2000 miles on them. I rebuilt the front suspension around seven years ago because an upper control arm bushing started squeaking. It has all new bushings and ball joints with less than 3000 miles on them. I replaced the master cylinder last year. The rear wheel cylinders were rebuilt in 1995 and the original rear brakes were replaced at the same time. I believe that was around 125K miles. The American Racing Outlaw II wheels were put on in 1994. For some reason, the clear coat doesn't look too good on one of them, but pretty good on the others. It has dual exhaust with aluminized pipe and no mufflers. I have the 24" glass pack mufflers that used to be on it that could be reinstalled. It has pipe clamped in place of the mufflers with bank clamps. This car never had air conditioning. It has an aftermarket cruise control system that doesn't work any more. I added an intermittent wiper control that works pretty well. It is a great driving car that I used for doing biomedical service calls many years ago. This is where the miles came from. It uses very little oil, and does make a small puff when starting because the valve guide seals are original.
