Description

What a Truck!
This is my 1957 Chevrolet 3100 BIG WINDOW pickup truck. This truck has been completely nut and bolt disassembled and built into one of the nicest custom Show-Winning pickups you'll ever see. Power steering, power Brakes, Bucket seats- BIG Stereo with nav, completely "Show Chrome" motor, Tilt Ididit wheel, big Aluminum radiator with fan, led taillights. Man you could empty the LMC catalog and drop $50K and you would just barely touch the $$ worth of parts in this thing!
I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves cars. I've owned this for three years and only driven it to car shows on Sunny Days!
I can't imagine how you could build anything even close to this for under $100,000 with what paint and chrome costs these days.
I bought this out of Nevada, and it was originally wearing big 18" Foose wheels. The first thing I did was to put some old-school Rocket Racing Torque-Thrusts on and some appropriate vintage rubber- American Classics 215/75/R15 WIDE WHITES- Not only does the truck look better but the ride and handling is fantastic.
With the wheels and tires sorted I started going through all of the "New Build" issues that you find on pretty much every big money build- Carb, Motor, Tranny, Rear End, Suspension... You name- We fixed it. The truck was pretty but sort of a mess as far as running and driving. Not any more! Now everything works. Motor fires right up into a big-boy muscle car rumble. The 409 Big Block has been completely rebuilt with a big cam (Sorry I never was able to get exact build specs) and a 700cfm carb. It pulls like a rocket but is just fine for puttering around town. The twin Flowmasters are LOUD but settle down nicely on the highway. The Turbo Hydramatic tranny was just serviced and a shift kit installed- so it will throw you back in your seat if you keep your foot down!
The truck is running on four coilovers- Looks like late model GM Stuff to me but I'm no expert on this stuff. If you need additional pictures I'm happy to take them. Four wheel power discs work great, but I would upgrade to an electric pump or Hydro-boost for the power brakes, since the big cam big block does not really make a ton of vacuum, so your first push of the pedal at speed is great, but it does tend to require a bit more pressure the second or third push.
The body is just excellent- A ruby red metallic paint covers every surface. All brand new chrome adorns the tuck. The engine bay is spectacular- shaved firewall with a fully chromed "Show Engine". I've been to four shows with this and taken home four trophies.
The pickup bed is fresh red Oak and the trim strips are painted body color. There is a lockable, removable fiberglass clamshell cover. A racing fuel cell sits beneath the oak bed.
When I bought it my goal was to sort out the wheels and tires, install all leather interior, and install Vintage heat and Air. I only got around to the wheels and tires and 6 months of sorting everything... chasing leaks and shorts and noises. So now it is near perfect and driveable. I had Billet Specialties make up a $500 kit to install the A/C compressor, and that will be included with the purchase. Another $1200 and you'll have A/C! Drop some more money on a full leather interior and power windows and I thin it's a $65-$85K truck.
I wound up taking all of the Walmart hifi gear out of this car and replacing it with premium stuff- Boston acoustics Speakers, a big 600 watt 5 channel amp and a really great Clarion double-DIN NAV/CD/Stereo with back up camera. There is a massive 2-10" subwoofer box behind the seats powered by the under-seat amp. Nothing like heading down the highway with some LOUD tunes on in this thing! I had my installer rig a secret red button on the console so i can turn the camera ON when driving- You get a cool view of the road melting away behind you. LOVE IT! He also installed a small magnetic patch on the clamshell- so with the cover on the NAV antenna sticks to the metal patch, with the clamshell off the NAV antenna sticks to the metal or the pickup bed. COOL!
The interior is all tan vinyl with brown vinyl "Ostrich" with a flame pattern. I guess it's all a matter of taste but it was done professionally and it's all in good shape. The original oatmeal color square weave carpets still look OK but do show some wear. The Chrome Dolphin gauge cluster is perfect and new. The truck has 2700 miles on it since the several-year restoration was completed. All glass is new, the wraparound front and rear windhshield are clear and clean.
I don't think I've seen a truck of this caliber sell for under $60K lately- That's about what I have into what with my purchase price and all of the work and parts I've put into it. People are here on ebay to get a deal, and I am not a dealer, so not worried about making money. Unfortunately for me my storage space is going to change this fall, so I am forced to move a few cars from my collection. That said- I don't need the money so don't expect to buy this truck unless the first number is a $3. Hate to sell this beauty but decided to keep my GTO and my Corvettes and some of my old Mercedes.
I will reply to all inquiries- and if you have any detailed questioned by all means- reach out and CALL ME- Happy to talk. My phone is 508/769/3428, and my name is Jay.
The truck is stored in my climate controlled warehouse about 25 miles West of Boston. Happy to show it to you nights or weekends.
