Description

383 cubic inch Stroker! Had to say that first! This C-5 is one of the year models that everybody wants. Most people that don't know Vettes think it is much newer than 1997. I was told it had about 80. 00 miles when it was sent to Lingenfelter for a complete rebuild. This is an important distinction. Many vehicles have a Lingenfelter engine or just some parts or stickers. this engine. transmission. rear differential. and all four corner suspension and brakes were built by Lingenfelter. Then the rest of the car was built for competing in car-shows. Now for the really good stuff. Lingenfelter performed nearly every bit of the following work:LPE (Lingenfelter Performance Engineering) Aluminum Block 383 strokerCallies 4340 Custom-forged Stroker CrankshaftManley 4340 Forged RodsCompetition Cam's Camshaft (3727R. 730R. Oh. and has a week old red-top battery. last one had a flaw. Presents very well although there is room for improvement and a few items need attention. Some carpet panels are in but need remounting (very minor. plastic clips). GPS in radio needs programming (have bought but didn't have time to install programming from the cd's). and one time under acceleration one bezel around the temp gauge slipped off (I'll probably have this fixed before purchase). As typical with most Vette's it will start getting hot in warm weather if you sit around idling for long and I can't find any fault with it there. One or both of the hood shocks is getting weak and hood will close after a few minutes. That's why I keep that wooden stick handy (in the photos). OH. and sometimes various "idiot lights" will come on. These don't seem to affect ANYTHING but they do come on at various times. I will throw in a code reader (remind me) so you can see what they are saying and reset them. One last thing is a little story about why nobody has ever used the nitrous (except maybe Lingenfelter while in testing). Yesterday (Friday). car warmed up. tires warmed with normal driving. sunny clear and dry day in South Texas (74 degrees). Got her to exactly 60 mph just cruising. Saw an open highway leaving town. Couldn't resist stomping on it one last time. Within about one second she had taken a deep breath. down-shifted herself (probably to second). roared to drown out the radio. and broke the tires loose. Rear-end swung about two feet starboard before I could let off and recover. Everything was smooth and exciting. but happened within about one second. I bought this from the previous two owners who were each about 70 years old. Car was always owned by mature (relatively) gentlemen. This car is not for the immature or inexperienced (no offense meant. trying to save a life). But keep in mind that this car is better engineered (Lingenfelter Performance Engineering) to run this fast than nearly anything on the street. Pure and simple. this car will stomp any newer Corvette. unless it has been comparably-built by Lingenfelter or Calloway!I should mention that I would keep this car forever!!! Except I have to clear the toys to go work overseas soon.
