1945 CHEVROLET ½ TON BARN FIND ORIGINAL SURVIVOR TRUCK When looking/considering this auction remember the quote “rarer than hen’s teeth”. There is a reason for this…up until a few years ago there were NO production numbers given for the production of trucks (much less civilian model) in the model year of 1945. It is now confirmed that there were 94. 34 models made in 1945 (None for 1944 or 1943). Of those. ONLY 6. 02 are identified as CIVILIAN model trucks/vehicles. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CIVILIAN TRUCKS!!!!! This. the 1945 model. is by far the rarest of all the production models from 1941-1946. How many remain? How many remain in this awesome original condition? To obtain a truck during these times. the U. S. government had to grant you permission via a request. Most of the steel that would be used for a new truck was being utilized for ammunition. ships. carriers. planes. etc. during the war. The purchaser had to own a business and had to label such business on their new truck. This is why NONE of the ORIGINAL trucks during this year had any chrome. The bumpers and grill would be a painted surface. This 45 still has it's original bumpers and grill in the original white paint!!! It also has it's placards that were painted on the sides of the beds upon delivery!!!Do not miss out on this rare truck! HISTORY: This truck came into my possession in 2004. The story was that a family had purchased (after the government granted permission) the truck in 1945 to aid in daily duties on their farm in Rolla. MO. Down the line. one of the sons took possession and drove the truck to/while attending THE University of Missouri (parking sticker is still affixed to the bumper) The truck was purchased in 2004 from the farm auction of this same family. Technically. depending how you look at it. I’m the second or third owner of this extremely well preserved truck!!! The vehicle comes with a clear Missouri Title. CONDITION: First of all. look at the photographs. Not only is this truck SUPER RARE. it is the BEST ORIGINAL Truck that I have seen from this model/period…ORIGINAL paint (90% I feel is very conservative)…. YES. that’s right…ORIGINAL green with black fenders and running boards with the ORIGINAL “Lead Red” engine compartment and firewall. The interior paint is the ORIGINAL light gray with very little surface rust present. The windshield glass moves in and out with the aid of the crank. The door and window cranks work. There is no major rot on this truck. The running boards have holes the size of a quarter in them (also conservative. more like the size of a nickel). The cab has no rust through. The floors have no rust through. The engine compartment has no extremely corroded parts. The door glass has what appears to be one bb (passenger side) installed by a juvenile and Red Ryder along with a baseball to the front passenger side glass. The original spare is present. The original 217 Straight 6 cylinder motor is complete but does not turn over (most of the people consulted in reference to this truck said that it would be typical for a motor that had sat this long. In my personal opinion. I would tear it down and rebuild it so as not to perform any unnecessary damage to the motor). The original black painted bed wood (yes. not polished up oak) is long gone. replaced with plywood. This is a wonderful vehicle to enjoy the patina and roll it down the winding roadway or restore it. PAYMENT: A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours after the conclusion of this auction. The remaining balance is due within 7 days from the closing of the auction. Pay pal is the preferred method (Do we really get a choice?). I will take a wire transfer. certified check. etc. BUT the vehicle WILL NOT leave my possession prior to the funds clearing my financial institution. I will not take a check for an inflated amount and immediately submit a wire transfer to Zimbabwe (LOL- No scam artists need apply). SHIPPING: This is the responsibility of the purchaser. I will assist in being here. taking telephone calls from shipping carriers. etc. If any additional requests are needed. please ask prior to bidding. Be sure to inspect all the pictures and ask any questions prior to bidding. If I have forgot to mention anything (No. not me) please ask. I will be happy to share what I know of this incredible find.
