1965 Chrysler Crown Imperial 65

1965 Chrysler Crown Imperial. I am not going to go into too much of the history of the Imperial, f you are looking at this ad. you know howluxuriousthis car was and is. I got the car a year ago with hopes of just cruising it around with the family. I didn't want to do a restoration as it is a good example of a survivor car. no silly modifications and no parts missing. However I have 3 other classic cars, wo young kids, wife that likes to hang out with friends on the weekend. so the car has been sitting in my driveway and as much as I hate to part with it I feel like it would be best to move it on to another owner who will enjoy it. the history of the car is that it was owned by a family in the Bay Area they kept it up and running. The tranny was rebuilt by a shop in the late 1980's. in 2002 it was garaged. it lost its garage space in 2014 and was covered outside. I bought it in mid 2015.This car has been prettywell taken car of its entire life and it is time to move it to someone who wants totake it the rest of the way.
This car is all original, nd I am going to do my best to describe it in detail. please let me know if you have any questions that I didn't cover in the ad.
Exterior- this car is really straight, few tiny dents but EXTREMELY straight. there is a spot of rust about the size of half a small fist on the lower passenger drivers door (picture included) but other wise rust free, o rust through anywhere else, o trunk rust, o floor rust. this is a California Car which as you know is huge for not having salted roads or other major rust issues. This car came with a vinyl top originally, stripped it off to see what the condition was underneath (the top was ripped already in a few spots), here is no rust through underneath which again is pretty rare. the front drivers fender had some light body work at one time in the front section infront of the tire (it is apretty good job, ut a bit ofthe paint is peeling there, nd a little light cracking of the filler it is not major at all, ut it is there so I wanted to mention it). the Stainless / Chromeis really good on the car-not missing any pieces, ee the pictures. I am impressed by the condition ofthe car, he fitment of the hood and doors is perfect. the exterior is truly in nice shape. all 4 hub cpas with original rims underneath, ll the glass is good, hewindshield has one small ding (dime size) in the lower center near the passenger side. again not a huge deal but it is there. all outside lights work
Interior-the interior is in pretty good shape without any majordamage. see the pictures for a better idea. the drivers seat has a few small rips near the top (where your left shoulder would be) it is not brittle but it isn't soft andflyable anymore either in that spot. the rear seat has one crack int he top middle (you can see it through the rear window, bout 5 inches longand 3inches wide. The rest of the seats are veryplayable and not cracking. It does need aheadliner, ll the bows are included and color coated (butthe factory) to install in the right positions when installing a new headliner. the carpet is old and has a few rips in it. it had floor mats for years and they cover up all the issues, o a few holes but not ratty anddefinitelyusable. the power window motors don't work, am not sure shy, aybe a fuse, r wiring, r corrosion on theterminals. I have a hard time believing all the motors would not work. I didn't want to tear off the drivers door panel to inspect it. I will leave that to the new owner. two cracks in the dash, auges,steering wheel Dash stainless all there and in good shape. Most interior Chrome moldings have some pittingand surface rust. all inside lights work including the map light and dome lights.
Drivetrain- the motor runs. it is all original. I did put a new fuel pump on it. so it willidle and run off the gas tank. The car was not running when I got it, nd it had sat for a few years. It is in need of a carb rebuild on the Carter 3871-s. I have not driven the car for two reasons the car will start with alittlegas down the carb and then will run fine off the gas in the tank. however the gas in the tank is old and needsto be flushed out, nd the Carb needs a rebuild for car to run like it should. A good carb. rebuild and a tune up and this thing should purr.The tranny was rebuilt in 1988, nd not driven much afterthat work done on it so it should work fine, ut maybe aflush of fluids beforetaking it around the block.
I want to be totally honest the car is in good shape, ut I had to point out all the negatives so as the new owner doesn't get surprised byanything when it shows up. the underneath of the car is has no structural rust issues anywhere. It does has surface rust, ut they all do, o no big deal there. I am not a car dealer or paid mechanic but have owned, nd worked on alot of classic cars so everything said above is the true honest statement of what Iknow and have found out in my research about this car. I don't have a lift so I can't get any good pictures underneath. andbecauseof how the sun hits my house the car sits in half shade almost all the time so pictureswhen the sun is out come out terrible so I had to take them on an overcast day which doesn't do the car and the stainless any justice. I have the original owners manual andprotecto plate for the car in the glove box.
