Description

Beautifully restored 1972 911T Aubergine Coupe. Registered in California since it was fist sold in 1971. Completely numbers matching including: engine number (6120471), ransmission number (321165), nd paint code (40). An early production date of July 1971 makes this one of the first 1972 models ever produced. This particular car has been fortunate enough to receive an extensive ground up nut and bolt restoration. Overall this is a very impressive restoration done with driving, erformance, nd appearance all taken into consideration. The car is absolutely stunning. The drive is exhilarating and the cosmetics are nearly flawless. I would consider this a show car that can be driven. It is not quite ‘pebble beach’ status, ut it is certainly pretty damn close. I have driven this car and the previous owner drove this car. It does show some evidence of use. No notable flaws such as dings, ents or scratches. The interior is near perfect. The mechanicals are flawless. The handling is superb.
Engine
The numbers matching engine has been completely rebuilt and has little over 1,000 miles of break in time. The original MFI was replaced with 40mm PMO carburetors. The result is an immensely improved driving experience. The engine is extremely spirited and drives strong throughout the power curve. The heat exchangers were restored to factory specs and the exhaust was replaced at the time of rebuild. The engine has been running SWEPCO 15/40 since the rebuild and does not leak or burn oil. The compression is extremely strong as one would expect. In addition to the rebuild the engine has been cosmetically restored to an ‘eat off it’ level. All nuts and bolts have been cadmium plated and the result is beautiful. No leaks of any kind mar the presentation of the power plant.
Transmission
The original numbers matching 915 transmission has been recently rebuilt. All gears are smooth and quiet. All new syncros installed. The shifting is tight and highly interactive. All shift bushings were replaced and the linkage is precise. Transmission seal and main seal were replaced.
Brakes
The braking system has been completely gone through. Rebuilt front calipers. Rebuilt rear calipers with drilled rotors. New pads all around. All new hard and soft lines. Freshly bled system stops very nicely.
Suspension
New Bilstein front and rear shocks set to ‘euro’ ride height. New Weltmeister bushings on the sway bars. Tasteful strut brace hidden in the front trunk adds lateral stiffness. The car handles wonderfully and feels like it is on rails.
Body/Paint
The entirety of the body and chassis was taken down to it’s purest form prior to paint. The floors are entirely original and rust free. The body is strait as an arrow and free from any sort of filler. Not a single nut was left on the car during the painting process. The Glass, oors, ood and decklid were removed prior to paint in addition to all rubber seals and trim. Single stage paint was color matched according to the paint code and applied evenly. The result is an extremely presentable finish with zero overspray. A concourse judge may find flaws, ut overall I would say the finish is stunning. Many exterior nuts and bolts have been cadmium plated and all exterior steel parts have been power coated. The entirety of the undercarriage has been painted to match the body color. Nothing has been left untouched and it shows.
Interior
The interior has been completely restored, lthough every attempt was made to maintain originality and retain original components. The carpets were re-done in the correct German velour fabric. The period correct Recaro sport seats were re-done with proper Pepita inserts. The rear seats were restored to match. The door panels are completely original and in exceptional condition. The door pockets are original as well. The leather steering wheel was re-wrapped in the correct factory style. The original dashboard was restored with proper vinyl materials. The headliner is extremely clean and original. The retractable REPA seatbelts are fully functioning, lthough they are a bit slow to return. The Blaupunkt Frankfurt is original although it is not connected. Window cranks are smooth and easy to turn and the glass has full movement.
Exterior
All brightwork has been polished or plated as necessary. Factory ‘S’ trim package. New ‘S’ rocker trim. New ‘S’ bumper trim front/rear. Completely original glass all around. Nicely restored set of 15X6 Fuchs Alloy rims wearing 5 brand new Goodyear ‘V’ rated tires. New factory oem lug nuts. Restored center caps. Factory Bosch 139 Fog lamps with original dash switch. Original Bosch H4 headlamps with new aftermarket lenses. New US market turn signal lenses all around. Correct black anodized 5 bar grill. Correct black anodized ‘Porsche’ and ‘911T’ script. Correct orange bar hood crest. Both door locks function properly and use the same key as the ignition.
Electrical
Completley sorted electrical system. Every wire traced and properly grounded. Fuse block gone through and all contacts are strong. Brand new batteries. Headlights, urn indicators, rake lights, ail lights, nd fog lamps all function as they should. Horn is functional. All gages have been rebuilt and are fully functional including ‘S’ tachometer and ‘S’ oil temp/pressure combo gage. Clock is functional and keeps perfect time. Interior lights work properly.
