Description

Awesome all aluminum 1972 Chevy P10 "Shorty". This is a true Shorty with the rare Grumman all aluminum body. This is the last year they made the "snub nose" P10 and will continue to go up in value. If you have been looking for one of these you know how hard they are to find....also you have seen the cost go up and up over the last 2 years. Below is everything I can tell you about this van.....
The GOOD: All items listed here were done within the last 1-2 months unless otherwise noted.....
  • Brand New Two-Tone paint. Chrysler Brilliant Black Pearl Metallic and Bright White
  • Rear main seal replaced
  • Completely Rebuilt Automatic Transmission
  • Rebuilt Brakes, front disc / rear drums) Wheel cylinders, otors, ads etc.
  • All new Wiring, ED Tail Lights and Side Markers
  • New Head Lights
  • Brand New Tires (less than 5 miles ago)
  • New Baby Moon Hubcaps
  • New (Port-A-Walls) 3" White Walls
  • Tune Up
  • Aftermarket Gauges
  • New Radiator
  • Electric Fan
  • New Water Pump
Many other little things too numerous to mention. This van is 100% mechanically sound and will make a great daily driver!
The previous owner said they rebuilt the engine approximately 5000 miles ago and we have no reason not to believe him....the van runs and drives very well. All the glass is in tact and rubber seals are new. Rear sliding "serving" window is like new and is a very clean install....not the typical hack job seen on most former ice cream trucks.
The BAD: We got this van from Florida and found it has a little rust on the front part of the frame. at this point it's only on the surface and everything is very solid. If you hit it with a wire wheel and spray some rust-oleum on it and you'll never have to worry about it in this life time. Sheet metal inside the front wheel wells has spots where it has rusted through but doesn't cause any issues and can easily be repaired or replaced (see photos). Other than these items the van is super solid and runs, hifts, rives and stops great. Interior is in excellent condition. Keep in mind these vans were designed as a multi-stop delivery vehicles and were not geared for freeway speeds. It will cruise along at about 40 Mph and tops out around 50 Mph. You can change out the rear end gearing if you want to drive freeways.
Things it could use: These are things that you don't necessarily need but would be nice. Windshield wipers are missing, teering wheel is old and could use an upgrade, hoke cable is not connected....we live in CA and the van starts easily when it's cold...just pump the pedal 3 times, old it down a little and turn the key...it fires right up every time and only takes 20-30 seconds to warm up. If you live in a cold climate having the choke cable connected (it's all there and working...just no bracket to connect to carb) might help with cold starts. Original gauges and speedometer don't work. Easy fix is adding a cool aftermarket speedo and gauge set (like Dolphin Gauges etc) Rear door is missing lock mechanism (replacement handles, ocks and latches are inexpensive from Mill Supply) and front doors need keys made for the locks. (Any locksmith can cut you some keys to fit them)
This is the perfect van for someone looking for a super cool shop truck, arley hauler, obile billboard, ce cream truck, unique food truck, etro delivery van, arts chaser or just a fun daily cruiser that you can take to local car shows and guarantee nobody else will have one.
Inside length from seat to rear door is 7'. Inside height is 66". Inside width is 72". Over all height is 88" and overall length is about 14'
