Description

Re-listed due to non-paying bidder. Please do not bid unless you intend to purchase. This is a well optioned 1973 Buick Electra 225 Limited 4 door hardtop with low miles. This is NOT a show car. but it does look decent and gets compliments. Below is an honest description of the car's condition:Engine & transmission: The original 455 cubic inch engine with the original 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetor runs great. That's what the 455-4 sticker means on the air filter cover (455 cubic inch - 4 barrel carburetor). The valves are quiet and the engine has plenty of power. There is a leak from the exhaust manifold (maybe both sides. but not sure). but it doesn't effect the drive-ability of the car. Newly installed true dual exhaust and mufflers. The transmission shifts gears as it should. The distributor has been updated to a HEI (no points). Car has new plugs. wires. cap. air & breather filter. radiator. battery. air conditioner compressor. and the VIR was rebuilt. However. I have not had time to vacuum and then charge the a/c to see if it holds. so consider it not working. This car is driven often locally and has not let me down. It has never overheated in the Florida heat. I haven't driven her far or over 55 mph. but she runs just fine around town. I wouldn't hesitate driving her a long distance. There is a local gas station that sells 90 octane ethanol-free gas that I only use because of the carburetor. I heard ethanol gas may damage carburetor gaskets over time. Wheels. brakes & suspension: The car has 4 brand new radial whitewall tires. The chrome steel rims were an extra cost factory option. and make the car look a little sporty with a nice 70s touch. The front has new American made rotors. pads. and wheel bearings. The power brakes have a nice smooth pedal feel and stop the car just like a new car. I haven't checked the rear drums or shoes (haven't had a reason to since the car stops fine). The shocks in front are newer. and the rear shocks and springs are brand new. The car rides beautifully. Really a different driving experience than more modern cars. The power steering is very easy and with the smooth ride. it's a relaxing place to be. Interior. body & paint: The interior is all original vinyl and very clean. The front and rear seats have plenty of support and have not sagged or changed shape since new. There is a small. repairable tear in the driver's seat-back. The driver side door panel needs to be repaired. All 4 windows raise and lower as they should. and all window switches work. New roof rail rubber. rear window seals and trunk seal. The dashboard and steering wheel are not cracked. The large. wide windshield and thin A-pillars and no B-pillars give a nice view out. Headliner is nice and the carpeting is fine. The paint is dark blue. however it received a lower-quality re-paint years ago. It looks just ok. but there are paint imperfections throughout. There's various body dings/scratches. but nothing that can't be repaired. All the lights work. and the tail-lights look great at night. Cruise control works. the fuel gauge and clock work intermittently. horn works. The factory 8 track radio is just laying in the dash and is not hooked up. I think the previous owner had a newer radio. and put the old one back in when I bought it. The trunk looks like a 42 year old trunk - it's huge. but needs to be detailed and cardboard panels replaced. Although she's NOT a show car. the car does look decent and gets attention/compliments. I bought the car about 6 months ago from the original family. The original owner's manual is in the glove compartment. I've been as honest as possible. Please ask questions if seriously interested. I'm sure there are a couple of minor things I may have forgotten. I encourage and welcome any inspections PRIOR to the auction end. I accept bank wire. cash or certified checks which must clear before I sign over the title or let the car go. In November 1972. my dad bought a brand new dark blue '73 duece-and-a-quarter. and I wanted to see for myself what it was like driving one. I've enjoyed it just the way it is. and the imperfections and cosmetic issues never bothered me. I just wanted a reliable driver that I could enjoy going to the local car show and running errands with. I've watched other 73 Electras sell for more than my reserve. and they weren't Limiteds and didn't have the options this car has. They appeared to be in about the same shape. even with higher mileage. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. however I will try to make myself available as much as possible. My zip code is 33063. and I'm about 25 minutes northwest of Fort Lauderdale. PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU INTEND TO PURCHASE. If you have less than 5 feedback. contact me prior to bidding or you will be blocked. If vehicle is sold. a non-refundable minimum deposit of $250 is due within 48 hours of auction end (Paypal accepted). The remaining balance is due within 7 days of auction end.
