Description

This is for my 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE "U" code 440 car. I will do my best to describe my car accurately. If I miss something you want to know about, est thing to do is just give me a call
I want to say, hat this car I would consider a high quality driver. It's not a rotisserie restored car. The work was done in 2006 and I have a few pics of what it looked like before restoration started. Most of the interior is original, oor panels, eadliner are original. All SE model Challengers came standard with leather seats. NOT THIS ONE! On the original window sticker, he car was ordered with the cloth/vinyl seats you see in the pics. There was a credit of -$48. shown right on the window sticker!! This was a very early build car, eptember 1969, riginal owner took delivery in November 1969. Not a Slap Stick, arly cars were called "Shift Gate" which it states near the shifter. Back to the restoration...the lower quarters were rusty and the quarters were replaced. Also, he trunk floor had some rust and was repaired. Otherwise, he rest of the body is original and was rust free including the floor floors forward of the trunk. This car was NOT a rust bucket. The paint job shows very well for being 10 years old. There's some minor cracking of the paint that was undetectable in the pics. Very hard to see, just know it's there when I wipe the car down. The car is nicely detailed under the hood and trunk. The car won a "Best of show" at an all Mopar show last fall!
Mechanically, he car runs and drives great! There's a slight vibration at around 60, iagnosed as a rear trans mount. A common problem on E bodies I've been told. The exhaust system is new and sounds great. New tires last year, inus a couple smokey burnouts. Ive put roughly 2500 miles on the car since I've owned it. It's been on Historic Route 66 last summer on our way to the Mopar Nats in Ohio. Yes, hauled the car but drove it in Illinois Route 66. It runs cool in the hottest weather, ot even CLOSE to running hot!! All gauges work fine except for the clock and the overhead console doesn't read out what it's supposed to. I really know of nothing the car really needs. It's pretty much turn key, nd be ready to turn A LOT of heads!!
This is a great piece of muscle car and Mopar history. It's one of 833 R/T SE cars build with a 440-4 barrel engine. it's 1-of-1 with the way the seats were ordered!! 1970 was the ONLY year Challenger was offered a 440 4-barrel configuration. Keep in mind that this car has the NUMBERS MATCHING 440 engine. The rear end is an 8 3/4 Sure Grip unit with 3:91 gears No warranty block here, t's the motor that it was born with!! The transmission is not numbers matching, owever. Also, hen you decode the fender tag, ou'll see that the appearance is exactly as it came from the assembly line, olors, tripes and 14" Road Wheels. I have the original window sticker and 1970 bill of sale. The car was bought in South Carolina at Sonny Bower's Dodge that no longer exists. I tracked down the guy that owned the car in 1970 through the bill of sale I have. . We've had numerous phone conversations, reat story in itself.
Last thing I want to cover. This auction has a reserve. It's well below what I feel is market value of the car. If you're a serious bidder, nd really want the car bid to what you feel the car is worth. I'm starting the auction at $1970. $25.00 incremental bids won't get it to the reserve very fast. So put your best foot forward!
Winning bidder to send a $1000. non-refundable deposit 48 hours end of the auction. Balance due within 7-days via certified bank funds, ank to bank wire transfer. Car is in storage and can stay there until you can pick it up.
