Description

This fiat has been stored in a clean dry garage for the last approximately 30 years. After putting in some gas directly to the carberateur it started right up. Then I drove it in both first and reverse before shutting it off as I didn't want to take any chances on an old timing belt. I can tell you it runs very strong -- no smoke -- spark plugs were perfect. The transmission shifted into all five gears very well -- but I didn't have a chance to drive in each of them to prove them out. This was a friend of mine's father's baby. He upholstered the seats and painted the body. The paint isn't orange peeled and in fact looks good for someone painting it themselves -- but it does have a paint sag on the passenger front fender. The soft top material will need to be replaced -- but the frame is good -- as well as all glass in the car is perfect. This is a fairly rust free car. The floors have been protected by what appears to be a tar base that must have came on the cars new. The very edge of the drivers door flor area has separated at the door edge. Obviously it was rusted through but it looks as if it was surgically cut. Should be an easy fix. I spotted a couple of inches of surface rust in one area of the trunk -- very slight amount. Along the edge of the car -- while looking up from the bottom some metal has been removed in the past to get rid of rust. Again these are small and easily fixed while aiding in not allowing for any trapped water. I am going to extremes in explaining any rust as I believe that aspect is very important on these cars. This would be a great car to restore -- and likely would not take to much work to have on the highway.
