Description

I have for auction a 1932 Henry Ford steel Roadster with full fenders. trunk. rear mounted spare. a Ford flathead 8BA with overdrive transmission. tons of potential. and best of all. built in AMERICA. From what I was told it was built into a hot rod / street rod in California back in the late 50’s and early 1960’s. It was placed in a garage in about 1969 (last year license tab showing on it) and was found about 3 years ago in a California garage when I purchased it. I have a copy of the California Title where it states the car was first titled in 1942 and has a California assigned Vehicle ID Number. That is the history I know of it. I trimmed the fender above the steering box and found the original VIN. but it is hard to read a couple of the numbers on it. The VIN begins with the letter “B” so the car was originally a 4 banger. I am selling due to having too many projects and feel this would be the best one for someone to take on and make it their personal driver. This is what I have observed as to the condition of the car: It is NOT a ready driver. although it is titled. licensed. insured. and I have driven it down the road. The body appears to be in very good condition. The paint appears to a combination of some newer. some older. some primer. and some just worn off. The seat and upholstery is in very good condition. having been redone at some time in its history. It has a wood like dash with Stewart Warner large logo gauges. At last test all the gauges worked. The engine is an 8BA from a 1949-1951 shoebox Ford. as is the overdrive transmission. The engine runs. has dual Stromberg 97’s (both large logo 97) on an Offenhauser intake manifold. It has tubular exhaust headers that empty into an old exhaust system that need to be redone. The transmission shifts fine but I never drove it at highway speeds to be able to check the overdrive. The radiator has just been cleaned and tested. And I have flushed the engine. It has a Frantz oil filter system. The brakes work. but grab a little quickly and pull to one side. Also. the parking brake works. The rear end is an early Ford Falcon or Mercury Comet unit with adapters to the 5 on 5 1/2 Kelsey Hayes wheels. It rolls on Goodyear 6. 00x16 bias ply tires. I have taken off the Port-O-Wall white walls you see in some of the pictures. The removable top is a Carson style top. Unbolt it and lift it off. It is in good condition. The front axle is a ’32 that is dropped. has the ends filled. and is chromed. but showing it’s age. The frame was modified to put in the overdrive transmission and the Ford rear end. The car is still 6 volt and I just put in a new battery. The wiring has been redone and appears to be in very good condition. The rear frame horn covers are plastic/fiberglass. The steering column. steering wheel. and horn ring are from an early Ford Galaxie XL. The springs. both front and rear. are chromed. but showing their age. The bumpers are very nice Questions?
