AM Radio. Heat. Vinyl Interior. Seatbelts-Front SELLER REMARKS Skyrocketing Mustang prices got you down? Never fear! Get all the performance with a cool low-profile look in this nicely finished 1965 Ford Falcon Futura. Same snarky 289. same agile suspension. and a great upscale look that seems more grown-up than the Mustang. almost like a factory sleeper. Basic black looks just as awesome on the Falcon as it does on the Mustang. giving it a sophisticated look that belies its price tag. The Falcon Futura was the top-of-the-line and it shows. with added trim and a great corporate look that was more Galaxie than grocery-getter. Paint and bodywork are great. suggesting that someone was really enjoying the idea of a high-end Falcon that could run with the ponies. It's a southern car with just one older repaint. so you know the metal underneath is in good shape. In addition. gaps are even. the panels line up right. and the sharply creased sheetmetal is crisply rendered; just look at all the character lines Ford stamped into the Falcon and you'll see that this was no easy restoration. The side insert makes the compact Falcon look longer and leaner with a sense of motion. and shows quite well even after nearly 50 years. It also wears '289' badges on its fenders. a subtle warning to folks who might under-estimate this slick hardtop. and all the chrome shows well. I have to admit. I'm impressed with this little car. It's all business inside. and where the Mustang got standard buckets. the Falcon uses a bench and a column shifter. Covered with what we believe to be the original black vinyl seat covers fore and aft. it offers the '60s look and feel and offers a lot more comfort and space than the smaller pony car. The dashboard is a stylish blend of materials. and the gauges themselves are so nice that you'd think this car spent its life in hiding. The chrome is bright. the stainless fascia is clear. and the dash pad is in great shape. so you know that this car didn't sit outside baking in the sun. An AM radio remains in the dash. but otherwise this Falcon is low-frills and high-performance all the way. The restored trunk shows off a correct reproduction mat and a full-sized spare tire on a matching Torque Thrust wheel. plus a complete jack assembly. The engine is a correct C-code 289 cubic inch V8 that's been upgraded with a 4-barrel carburetor. and with only 2600 or so pounds to haul around. performance is remarkable. The level of detail in the engine bay is impressive. ranging from the chrome air cleaner with reproduction decals to correct stampings on the hoses with tower hose clamps holding them in place. Finned valve covers look a lot like those you'd find on a 427 Galaxie and they definitely add to the high-performance vibe that this Falcon gives off. With dual exhaust it sounds potent and the 3-speed automatic transmission clicks off quick shifts and is standing by with a quick downshift when you mash the throttle. 14-inch Torque Thrust wheels give away part of the disguise. but their period look and 195/75/14 front and 205/75/14 rear blackwall radials sure look good. Fast. fun. and slightly out of the ordinary. this Falcon gives you the moves of a Mustang with a low-profile look that will serve you well on the street.
