1950 FORD SHORT BUS

This is a clean old bus project and is straight with very little rust. These old short buses are really cool and make great rod projects. These buses also look great chopped and/or lowered. They alsomake sweet vintage motorhomes. This particular bus is old enough to where it's narrower and looks better in my opinion. In the later 50's almost all the buses went to an 8' wide body platform which have a little more room but aren't as smooth looking. This bus appears to have had a quality rv conversion either when it was new, r sometime in the 50's. The conversion looks to have been done professionally, nd the cabinets are vintage with bakelite handles. The sink is in nice shape, nd is a salmon colored enamel popular in the 50's. This bus would make a great glamping rv to restore. Guys are also using old bus for tow rigs that you can put sleeping quarters in. Tow your race or show car in style. I think a bus would make a great food, ce cream truck, offee shop, ending truck, r? A vintage tiny house rv. I've seen people use them for vending at car shows or to haul show bikes or race bikes. Clear title. Thanks and happy bidding. Feel free to ask questions.

MECHANICAL

This bus has a newer V8, hat looks like an oldsmobile or a buick. I do not know for sure if it runs. When I put a battery in it to see if it would turn over, t just clicks. That could be a variety of things (solenoid, tarter). I have a shoulder injury that prevents me from wanting to go further to see if the motor turns or if it's locked. I was told it ran when it was parked, ut that has been awhile. If you can't get it running, hese old v8's are usually easy to rebuild or find another running engine to swap out. It's pretty easy to put a chevrolet drivetrain in these and an LS1 with a 700r4 would be perfect. Or a duramax, owerstroke, r? I guess whatever you prefer. If your not going to drive far or fast, he current setup would work. This has the 4-speed manual transmission. It steers and the tires hold air.

BODY

The body is great for an un-restored project this old. Very minimal rust which I will detail: Each front fender has minor rust in the very low skin, f the rear corner of the fenders. One spot, n each side. One rear corner of the bus body has a little skin rust. You can see it in the pics. The only other spot of rust is in the body, elow the rear door. It is not rusted through but has pinholes. This is an easy repair, nd the door and jam are fine. The inside floor has some surface rust/pitting but it is completely solid with no soft spots or pinholes. I'm sure it will be fine if just sanded and painted/sealed or POR 15. The roof does not leak. The rear window is out but it is included. This is a flat piece of glass that is easy to replace and you can use the old one for a template. The windows and doors open/close. The grille is out of a big truck and is usable. but doesn't fit exactly like it should. This should have a pickup grille and used ones are easy to find but reproductions are probably available. The roof is in nice shape and un-cut. Old bus stop lights are all in pretty good shape. The body is straight with exception of the dent by the hood. Overall the body is in nice shape for a project and has very little rust. The rust it has is easy-to-repair rust and is not structural. The frame, rame supports, tc. etc. are fine.

INTERIOR

The camper conversion stuff is in nice shape. The cabinets need one new handle and you may find a match on ebay. The cabinet handles and interior light lenses are bakelite material. The interior propane light also looks like its about as old as the bus, nd the propae line was properly hidden in the walls. The table and seats are in good condition. I have not tried the stove. the table has a propane lamp over it and the propane line was hidden in the walls. I'm sure the plumbing/propane things need checked out and may need some maintenance. I don't believe there is anything electric in the camper area except the overhead lights which are 12v.

OVERALL

I go to a lot of car shows andit's rare to seea cool short bus fixed up. It is also difficult to find an older short bus this clean. When there is a custom or restored one, here is a crowd around it. This could be the talk of the carshow or campground.

THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS-IS. IT IS USED, LD, ND NEEDS RESTORATION.
