Description

This wonderful little 1935 Ford tudor sedan is priced so attractively that there's just no excuse to not own a flathead Ford. Nicely styled, reat colors, nd nicely restored, t's the way they were originally and that's makes it fun, eliable, nd great to look at.With so many of these modified, ut, hopped, nd re-engineered, t's always refreshing to see one just the way Henry built it. Even better, ith a tudor sedan, ou get all that's great about an early V8 Ford at a bargain price. The '35s were an evolution of the '34 styling with plenty of previews of the '36 models, aking for a very distinctive look that's quite popular with enthusiasts. The finish looks black at a glance, ut it's actually dark, ark blue, great color that really makes this car stand out. The sedan's proportions are ideal for the enthusiast with a family and the bustleback trunk makes it practical for touring. We're guessing the restoration is a few years old and it has a few signs of use and age, ut nothing major and it really is as clean as it appears in photos. The doors open and close easily, he hood fits well, nd even the running boards are in great condition. The bright red pinstripe encircling the body adds a rakish touch and the rear-mounted spare tire is a favorite old-fashioned touch that rodders delete and purists embrace. Either way, t looks great. The chrome trim is in great shape, oo!The tank mohair interior is pretty much as the factory did it, s well. Front seat passengers get bucket seats that tilt forward for access to the rear bench, aking this a genuine 5-passenger vehicle. The fabric is comfortable and in good condition, howing only very light signs of wear and use, ut nothing that needs attention today. The banjo-style steering wheel is big enough to make the steering light and the factory gauges are as lovely here as any other car of the period. It's pretty stock, ith the three-speed shifter snaking out from under the dashboard and the secondary switches in the center. That's an aftermarket AM radio tucked under the dash, rare but correct accessory for 1935, nd like most Fords of the period, he front seat has a durable rubber mat. The rear seat gets carpets and matching upholstery that looks completely unused. The trunk is deep and well-shaped, lthough the lift-over is kind of high, necessity with the rear-mounted spare. That's a correct 221 cubic inch flathead V8 under the hood, eautifully detailed with bright chrome acorn nuts and a factory-correct look. Only the air cleaner appears to be aftermarket, ut everything else, rom the Ford carburetor to the generator to the fuel pump are as they were in 1935. It starts easily with a familiar starter chatter and the bubbly, nergetic personality is evident from the moment it fires. The three-speed manual transmission shifts easily and clutch action is light. Ford was still using mechanical brakes in 1935, ut they're reasonably competent and the suspension feels playful and rugged on the street. The single exhaust has just the right note that makes it a joy to run the flathead through the gears and the underside is in very good shape with signs of use but no issues. Bright red Ford wire wheels look great wrapped in 600-16 BFGoodrich wide whites.I can't believe how affordable this pretty tudor sedan is, nd once you try a flathead on for size, ou're never going to want to drive anything else.
