Description

A nimble SUV that saves at the gas pump.Fully Loaded.Owned by non-smokers - the first owner and myself, the second owner.A SOLID vehicle.Have title in hand. Clear.Includes two ignition keys and 3 remote access key fobs.
About the battery pack:The hybrid battery pack has been reconditioned (6 months ago) to balance theNMHi cellsresulting in sustainedlongevity. The pack is good to go for at least another 2+ years before reconditioning may be required.Green tec auto sells reconditioned packs for $3000. But it is doubtful this vehicle will need a reconditioned pack in the next 4 years. This is because the batteries operate between their 40% to 60% State of Charge (SOC) ratings which dramatically extends their lifetime. There are no deep discharges demanded from these packs. And this is why Ford escape hybrid cab drivers in NYC can go 300K+ miles and why the Toyota Prius car's battery packs last so long.I haveextra reconditioned packs whichare available at a separate very reasonable cost.Tested vehicle in city driving on Dec 8 2016 and obtained 31 mpg when outside air temperaturewas 26F.I know this vehicle and have the FORD diagnostic tools and shop manuals to debug any problems with it. You may use me as a resource free of charge after purchasing this SUV if you have any problems with it up to 1.5 years, which I believe will be improbable, so long as it is properly maintained (in particular, not running below minimum oil and coolant fluid levels).
Thisvehicle is being sold becauseof theneed to haul much more than1000 lb.It comes with a Class I (2000 lb trailer weight ; 200 lb tongue weight) 1.25" square receiver opening hitch. If I didn't need to haul more weight, I would definitely keep this vehicle. It will be very reliable for at least another 50 to 100 thousand miles, and I would not be hesitant to drive it across America many times.
Roof rack cross members were added to allow such items like a canoe/kayak to be carried, but they were never used. They aren't flimsy and feel as though they could carry a 150 lb+ load.
The under carriage has little to no rust, as it came from Louisiana and has not seen any Northern winters. So the body on this vehicle will last a very long time.
Interior is leather with no rips, tears, stains. But it shows wear with creases and not new looking but it is clean.
New rotors and brake pads were installed in the last year. The braking system is excellent.
The tires are adequate and some great guys at the local Belle Tire shop indicate they will last another 10K to 20K miles easily.
All fluids replaced in the last year including: engine oil, cvt oil, engine coolant, high voltage electric system coolant.
There are no oil and no coolant leaks. There are no engine problems and the transmission runs smoothly. The vehicle operates flawlessly.
I reserve the right to end this add if this vehicle is sold locally.
Mileage may increase slightly by up to 150 mile increase by the timebidding has ended.

Model Overview
The Ford Escape comes with three different powertrains for 2008: a 153-horsepower, 2.3L four-cylinder, a 200-horsepower, 3.0L V6, or a hybrid powertrain, which pairs a 133- horsepower Atkinson-cycle version of the 2.3L four with an electric motor system, battery pack, regenerative braking, and a sophisticated management system. Four-cylinder and V6 models are offered in XLS, XLT, and Limited trims, but the hybrid powertrain is only available in a single Hybrid model. All models, including the Hybrid, offer a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The AWD system can seamlessly deliver more torque to the back wheels as needed before the front wheels slip, and it also serves to enhance stability when cornering. The system can vary torque front-to-back and side-to-side. A four-speed automatic transmission comes with all Escape four-cylinder and V6 models, except the base XLS four-cylinder, which is also available with a five-speed manual. The Hybrid gets a CVT automatic system. The Hybrid has a "full hybrid" system, meaning that it can operate for short distances and low speeds on electric power alone; the gasoline engine automatically shuts off during those times and when possible at stoplights to help maximize fuel efficiency. EPA ratings for the Hybrid are up this year, to 34 city, 33 highway. The standard Escape is quite fuel-efficient as well; with the four-cylinder and manual transmission, it achieves ratings of 22 city, 28 highway. All Escape models now have the speed-sensitive electric power assist steering system, which eliminates noise and increases efficiency. Four-cylinder and V6 Escapes come with a front disc/rear drum brake system, while Hybrids get four-wheel discs--both with anti-lock. The AdvanceTrac system with roll stability control is now standard; front side air bags plus full-length Safety Canopy side-curtain bags are also included in all models. The Escape now has a plastic-and-polyester seat fabric made of 100 percent post-industrial waste--substances manufactured for retail use that didn't make it to the consumer. Ford says that the use of this material could save an estimated 600,000 gallons of water, 1.8 million pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent, and seven million kilowatt hours of electricity. Limited and Hybrid models come equipped with the most luxury and convenience features. Highlights on the Limited include leather upholstery, a keypad entry system, an upgraded sound system, chrome trim and bezels inside, fog lamps, and bright machined aluminum wheels. The Hybrid includes dual-zone automatic climate control, the eco-friendly fabric, fog lamps, and unique alloy wheels. Major options on the Escape include larger 17-inch chrome-clad wheels, a 320-watt Audiophile sound system, Sirius satellite radio, a DVD-based navigation system, leather-trimmed power seats, a power moonroof, a roof rack, and a reverse sensing system.
