Low Mileage, Original Paint, Factory original California flareside

I’m listing for auction my father’s ’81 F150 Flareside. He purchased this truck a year or so ago from California where it still belonged to the original family that had purchased it new in 1981. He still has the California plates that will go with it. It had been stored in a garage in California since 1992. and only driven sparingly before that. It has 61k actual miles on it. The paint is original. and shines very nicely; there is no wax on the paint in these photos. it looks that nice in person. The paint is thin in some spots and has a couple scratches and dings. but would be great for weekend showing. There is one stress crack in the fiberglass on the back passenger side fender. It has the original 4. 9L straight 6 that runs like a top. it’s so quiet you can’t hear it running. The 3sp on the column shifts like butter and is easy to drive with all of the torque that big six has. This truck was built without A/C. and at this time the factory radio does not appear to work. All lights. wipers. etc work properly. My father put a new set of BFG tires on it in the correct size as well as replaced the bed with a Bruce Horkey wood bed. the original was starting to rot. Outside of that he did a fuel pump and sending unit and a new battery just to make it reliable. The only cosmetic item he replaced was the dash pad which had a crack. with a very nice. un-cracked. original one. Everything else on the truck is as original. It is just an absolute time capsule. I’ve honestly never seen another TuTone Flareside in this kind of shape. It gets compliments everywhere we take it. Bid with confidence. but please. serious bidders only.
