Description

This Jag is for the true enthusiast who enjoys going back in time. This XKE has been restored by a highly reputable restoration shop here in Sioux Falls to a near perfect finish. All the running gear. power plant. electrics. gauges. and A/C are in good running order. with the exception of the speedometer which works. but not perfectly. As you will see from the pictures. this is a beautiful example of the 2+2. which is gaining in popularity as a collector car across the world as fewer and fewer Jags of this vintage are surviving. The combination of features on this one make it almost one of a kind. Most 2+2 models are automatic. because the whole point of the 2+2 was to add an additional 4 inches to give room for the automatic transmission. This one is one of the 20% that has the 4-speed manual transmission. It also has a beautiful set of wire wheels. A/C. and the right mirror delete. All together. this XKE may be the only one like it in the USA. The car came to the USA in 1969 as a special order to a pharmacist in Des Moines. Iowa. He sold to a couple from Alton. Iowa. to a man who owned a construction company. His wife was a school teacher who drove it to school. I have met them. as they came to visit the car when they found out I had it. She claimed it was the most reliable car she ever owned. quite a statement from an XKE owner. They traded it in on a new Cadillac in the eighties. where it was bought off the Cadillac lot in Sioux City by its next owner. a local antique shop owner and stock car racing team owner. I originally purchased the car from this stock car racer and antique dealer in Sioux City. He bought the car off the Cadillac lot and used it as an excursion driver for years. One day he parked in his basement garage and just never drove it again. for whatever reason. After 14 years he couldn't justify keeping it. He assured me that it would run. but it didn't. so the entire engine was completely restored and rebuilt. with the addition of some new headers. There is photo documentation of the restoration process. Of course. nbsp;I couldn't stop there and ended up restoring all the running gear. front and back. as well. The body was completely redone at the same time. This Jag has only two flaws. It is missing the rear view mirror. and the radio does not work. Good projects for a new owner that wants to show off his ride while doing some sleuthing.
