Description

The Old Oregon Motor Company presents:

1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car. Black and Silver/Silver leather. 16K miles from new. This is THE pace car to have! It has the very rare combination of the L82 motor and the 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission. Estimates of the number of these cars built range from 202 to 512 units. We tend to believe the higher figure, but even so, that represents less than 8% of Pace Car production...and a little over 1% of all the Corvettes built in 1978. The current owner purchased this car in 2004 with 6600 miles. The car has always been garaged and is (almost) completely original throughout. All original paint looks stunning. Decals never applied but they are available and come with the car. Glass t-tops. Tilt/tele steering wheel. Power windows and locks. Thiscar has always received everything it ever needed, when it needed it. Recent work includes rebuilding of the air conditioning system, a rebuilding of the carburetor, a rebuilding of the radiator, and a new valve cover gasket. The only non-original item is an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player, but the original radio has been saved and comes with the car. The only non-functional item is the power antenna, but it can be raised manually. This is a collector quality Pace Car. It has never been judged, but would likely be an NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold example. The new owner can have the fun of collecting those awards. And since this car does not have crazy-low miles it can be driven and enjoyed sparingly without the worry of a loss of value. All records available as well as the owner's manual. All things considered, we believe this may be the most desirable Pace Car on the market today. Don't miss it!
