Description

I have a very nice 1940 Chevy Flatbed Pickup. It is one of the best I have ever seen. Heads will definitely turn when people see this drive down the street.
It comes with a Buick V-6 motor and an automatic transmission. The exterior colors are burgundy and black and the chrome on it is out of this world. It is absolutely beautiful.
The interior is beige and burgundy all around and is perfect with the colors of the vehicle.
The wheels have recently been painted burgundy and black to match the colors of the cab, fenders and running boards. Very nice.
It drives okay on the road, but because of its age, it does not handle like a brand new Cadillac if you know what I mean?
It does have nicks and scratches on a number of places, but not too severe.
Because this vehicle is 76 years old, it is being sold "As Is". It is the responsibility of the buyer to pick up this vehicle. It will not be shipped.
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required upon the final sale. Happy Bidding.

I have for sale a very nice 1940 Chevy flatbed pickup. As the pictures show this pickup looks amazing. The body has been painted a bodacious burgundy color and the fenders and running boards have been painted pitch black. These two tone colors go perfectly together with this pickup. Even the Western Brand aluminum wheels have been painted the same colors.

The pickup comes with a Buick V6 engine and an automatic transmission. Both are in good running condition. The pickup has dual exhaust and power pack mufflers that have a nice rumble sound to them when the engine is running. The exhaust also comes with curved chrome tips, which adds that extra flare to its overall good looks.

The brakes have recently been gone through and the pickup stops like it should. It does not have power brakes, however. Because of this a little extra pressure is needed on the brake pedal to stop the pickup. This is a no big deal for anyone who has ever had a vehicle that came with no power brakes.

The chrome on this truck is in near immaculate condition. There is a small dent on the back bumper, but that is all. Most chrome pieces on this type of pickup are either rusted or painted over, but not this one. It even has two chrome visor pieces that cover the top and frontal areas on the bucket headlights to give them that extra vogue look. And take a look at the Chevrolet name displayed just above the chrome front grill. It is painted burgundy in color and it helps bring out the lustrous beauty of this pickup. It lets everyone who sees it know that you are driving a classic Chevrolet.

The stained wood on the flat bed looks great and it adds even more décor to the pickup’s overall good looks. There are two metal beer kegs, one attached to each side of the pickup, that adds an extra touch of style to its already uniqueness. These kegs are setup for show only and they are not used as gas tanks. I’m sure they could easily be converted over to gas tanks if one wants them for that purpose. The bed also has two symmetrically placed black metal storage boxes that can secure tools and other equipment for the maintenance of the vehicle. They are very impressive looking and go perfectly with the pickup’s architectural magnificence.

I have cleverly placed several imitation bullet holes on the two doors to give them the appearance the pickup was shot up by a bunch of ruthless coppers chasing after it or even worse, angry mobster thugs shooting it up with their rat-a-tat-tat Tommy guns. When one sees them, along with the two beer kegs attached to the sides of the bed, it gives them the impression this vehicle was used for some type of illegal bootlegging activity or any other type of similar parody function. It is all in fun and it is an excellent conversation piece, especially when the vehicle is at a car and truck show. I have to tell you this truck did win a best pickup placard at a car show it was in.

And, of course, we can’t forget about the amber and chrome fog lights. They complement the two bullet shaped headlights and boy do they look great. Both amber lights are new and are bright and they cut through the dense fog like a red hot knife slicing through cold butter. LOL. Once again, you do not find these types of lights on very many 1940 Chevys. These two lights add just the right touch to the front chrome bumper as well as the pickup’s overall appearance.

The small torpedo shaped parking and turning lights, which are normally seen on top of each front fender, have been removed, modified and placed at a new location. These turning lights are now strategically placed in front of the left and right side fenders and boy do they look amazing. Instead of them being big and bulky, like what the original torpedo turning lights use to be, they are now thin and sleek and they look like they were designed by the ingenious engineers of Chevrolet to be part of the fender’s smooth contour appearance (see pics). This is a unique concept and you will not find this type of design on most restored 1940 Chevy trucks.

This pickup has been changed over to a more powerful 12 volt system. Because it this, the original gages in the instrument cluster do not work. The original speedometer does work, though. I currently have installed after market gages that do work and they all have been set up for a 12 volt system. They include the oil pressure gage, the voltage gage and the temperature gage. I recently replaced the fuel sending unit and it works perfect with the new fuel gage. These two are also after market instruments.

The interior looks great and it also adds pizzazz to the pickup’s overall appearance. It is burgundy, beige and off white in color and it pairs perfectly with the truck’s exterior colors. Heck, even the cigarette lighter, the dome light and the single wiper motor works on this pickup.

This pickup is an inspired work of art and it is pure eye candy to anyone that sees it whenever it is driven down the streets of Memory Lane. It doesn’t matter where it goes or where it is at, it is guaranteed to turn heads and possibly cause, what is called, “Rubber Neck Whiplash” to certain individuals because of how awesome it looks. It doesn’t matter if a person is 10 or 110 years old, they will whip their heads around so fast just to take another gander at this amazing truck going by them. You just don’t see this kind of truck being driven down the streets very often, if ever.

The four radial tires on the pickup are in great shape. They are installed on four Western brand aluminum rims which have been painted to match the colors of the cab, the fenders and the running boards. A spare tire, a hydraulic jack and a four prong lug nut wrench also come with the pickup. To top off this incredible pièce de résistance, there are two Tasmanian devil mud flaps located just behind the rear tires. These added pieces just gives this pickup even more attention and popularity, especially when a person is driving right behind it.

Remember, this vehicle is now 76 years old so please do not think it will drive and handle like a brand new Cadillac or Audi because it doesn’t. There are some minor scratches and scrape marks on the paint at various locations, but not too severe. A professional paint shop can easily fix any blemishes that maybe on this vehicle.

I have seen this kind of pickup going as high as $30,000, or even more, on eBay and at other auction outlets throughout the country. But I am not asking anything even close to that amount. I need a quick sale on this. My loss will be your gain. This pickup is being sold “As Is” and there is no warranty given or implied of any kind. Happy Bidding. Thanks for looking and god bless.
