Description

Hi! Welcome to this auction.
I purchased this vehicle one year ago in the Tampa area. This is my 4th Discovery II. The idea was to set up the tent and use it to go overlanding with the family, like we’ve done with the previous ones (Discoveries, not families!). Long story short this past May we bought a travel trailer (and a LR3 to tow it with), so this nice Disco is just sitting there.
Yes, this car is an attention grabber. If you want to go unnoticed look somewhere else. The graphics are nice and still look fresh. Don’t know what they represent, but they are cool. Hood blackout is a two piece set.No corrosion. Multiple dings and small scratches. Nothing major as you can see from the pictures. Paint is fading in hood. Clearly visible in pics.Front bumper is very, very heavy duty with provisions for winch ($1200). Standard bolt pattern.Gives a great approach angle. D rings with welded brackets. Mounted lights are wired to proper cockpit dash switch. One of them does not work. I had every intention to install LED lights, that’s why I did not worry about this.Rear bumper is 4 months old ($550 plus install). Original plastic one was falling apart.Roof rack is by Galvin Industries with risers for operation of sunroofs ($1200 new). Hella Rallye 500 lights are mounted but not wired. I mounted these about 4 months ago, but with the change of plans never got to install them. I have the related relays, etc.Tires are General AT2 with 70% thread left. Spare is standard street tire.Very nice Safari snorkel, properly installed. Works as intended and looks uber-cool!!!Brakes are fine, suspension is also OK with no noises. Steering is firm.Engine runs very smooth. Cooling system is pretty much new: new radiator, new thermostat, rebuilt water pump, number of hoses replaced, etc. Complete flush of heater core and remainder of the system ($1600)Transmission shifts incredibly smooth (smoothest I’ve seen among all my previous D2’s). There is a whining sound, that increases with vehicle speed (not engine speed). I’ve been told is the front differential, but I’m not sure. It could be the transfer case or anything else in-between. Could even be a wheel bearing (but it almost never is something that simple…). I’v serviced differentials and fluids in transmission and transfer case. All fluids are topped off.Previous owner asked his mechanic to disconnect the solenoid for the transfer case safety pin. In any event the pin is in place and you can’t change to LOW. I had no intention of going rock crawling or serious off-roading, so this was never a concern to me.YES, three amigos are on. SRS light comes on and off. So does the check engine light. I’ve recorded a short video (available upon request, send me your e-mail) that shows the car going up a bridge with check engine light off. That very same day the light came on…Cruise control does not work.I just replaced the windshield plastic cowling that collects rain water (just under the windshield). In most older D2’s this part is cracked and that usually creates problems with water intrusion. This part is OEM new ($300 plus install).Interior is good, not perfect. Instruments all work as they should. Clock has some missing sticks. Backlight of odometer does not work. All powered related accessories work. I have sealed the forward sunroof from the outside with aluminum tape, since it was leaking under heavy rain. Drains are likely clogged (very common thing).Upholstery is in very good shape. I covered the front seats with all weather fitted covers. They are HD and feel very nice. Color matches interior. This was done to prevent damage to upholstery, which is in good shape.Front and rear rubber mats. Courtesy lights are LED. I also installed an aqua signal LED map light (white/red). Cargo area has WeatherTech liner (4 months old). OEM guard is new. Retractable cargo cover works correctly.JVC aftermarket radio with USB/iPod.Jack and tools are there. So is the owner’s manual. No remote. Two keys.
In the pictures you noticed a GEO rooftop tent (GT-165 $1500 plus shipping) and a Smittybilt awning ($250). These two items are NOT NOT NOT NOT included in the price of sale. I just will not remove them until the vehicle is sold. They are obviously available to the winning bidder for an additional $1500 (100% NON-negotiable). Both these items are brand new never used, not once. I just set them up once to make sure all was OK, closed them and put the cover on.
Reserve price has been set at a reasonable level, with an attractive BIN price.Remember all the goodies: heavy duty front winch bumper, heavy duty rear bumper, full roof rack, Hella lights, roof access ladder, seat covers, all weather rubber mats, cargo cover mat, dog guard, new cooling system, etc, etc.
As far as disclaimers, the vehicle is obviously sold in AS-IS condition, with no expressed or implied warranties of any kind. If you’d like to inspect the car, please do so before placing your bid. Once you win the auction, the car is yours. It’s not a chance to see the car!Car is located in the Coconut Grove area. Make sure your driver’s license and insurance are up to date if you intend to test drive the car. I will assist winning bidder with shipping, as long as it does not involve driving more than 10 miles from 33133. Cost of shipping is responsibility of the buyer. Some of the items pictured are personal are will not be left in vehicle, specially those fitted to the dog guard (ropes, carabiners, etc).Car comes with a FL clear title to my name ready to be transferred to winning bidder.Do not hesitate to call me if you have any additional questions or if you’d like to arrange a viewing or test drive.
