This Lincoln is in excellent original condition and looks and drives extremely well ! The Flathead V8 starts right up and idles smooth and quite . Itpurrs down the highway at 60 mphwithout anynoises or smoke . It has an enhanced dual exhaust which gives it a nice mellow exhaust note while improving performance . The Optional Hydramatic Transmission is silky and smooth and amazing to find in a 1950 Automobile ! This was a milestone at this time for Lincoln and these transmission were purchased from GM for these specific Lincoln Cosmopolitans !
This Cosmo presents Very Well and wears an older respray enamel finish in Raven black as its correct original color . The repaint is said to have been done circa 1980 and still has a high gloss deep mirror finish as you can see in the photos . There are a few minor imperfections and touch ups that are well warranted for an Automobile that has Survived to its present day prominence . The Glass and chrome on this car are excellent ! The Bumpers are original and show minimal wear with a minor dent on the rear left bumper . All the chrome trim is exceptiona, the chrome door handles do show minor pitting but still in exceptional condition for this time piece.
The Original Interior is also in great condition with the exception of the front seat that will need to be re-upholstered when desired . ( We do have the resources to have this don, you can inquire if needed . ) The Dash and all components are in fantastic clean condition with slight patina that only enhance the character of this timely classic . The Temperatur, Fuel, Amp & Oil Pressure gauges are all functioning properly . The Radio and Speedometer are inoperable at this time . Front power windows function but the rear seem to be sticking so we let them be in the up position . The Front Power seat functions well and is a very comfortable & convenient option to find on this car . The photos show the interior well, it is a very dry car with no foul odors and is a pleasure to ride in pride in !
The undercarriage is in phenomenal condition with only surface rust on the frame that can be easily refinished . The original undercoat is on the metal with a few flaked off pieces of the coating . We purposely left the undercarriage to show its natural original condition . This car has no significant rust or rot and is a testament to the metal and materials used at that time showing the durability of true American manufacturing unlike today's automobile products .
Overall this Rare Lincoln (8341 Built ) is a true survivor original automobile . It has an Intense Confident appeal with a delightful patina that gives this Cosmopolitan an attitude of Prestige and Decadence that only a true Classic can display .These Lincolns hold a high position in American Automobile history bringing a modern design with great performance and quiet Luxury that the made Lincoln so greatly recognized and admired . President Truman commissioned Lincoln to build his motorcade car from this model. Other wealthy and famous people such as Winston Churchill and Frank Lloyd Wright as well as Hollywood Actors and Executives chose these Cosmopolitans for there prestigious rides...
