Description

1962 Kellison - Built as Mr. Kellison would have built it himself. and now being offered for sale. unmolested and unrestored - this is a well preserved and cared for driver - was built here in Missouri by an aircraft professional over a 16 year period of time - when every detail was finished. every wire hooked up. every circuit tested. it was inspected and titled in 1980 with the make listed as Spco. short for Special Construction - I purchased it in Arizona in May. 2001. and trailered it home - I have had a clear Missouri title in my name every since - it showed very low miles ( 8500 ) at the time I purchased it. and I've just put appx 5000 careful adult driven miles on it since - we have always done everything mechanical that it needed when it needed it. most notably a new clutch and new carb quite a few years ago and new mufflers and tail pipes appx. 4 years ago - I have never had the heads or pan off of the engine. nor taken the transmission or rear end apart - I did have the rear end lined up with a few new parts right after I bought it - it has never really seemed like a kit car. but more like a vintage factory production sports car - it was physically built like a race car. but never raced - it has a 396. 4 speed trans. and a 3:08 posi rear end - it has 4 wheel disc brakes and 4 wheel independent suspension - with the Corvette frame. the exhaust is routed through the frame rails as it comes to the rear - it has Halibrand wheels with B. F. Goodrich Radial T. A. 's with appx. 4000 miles on them - the fronts are P225/70R15's and the rears are P255/70R15's - the Halibrands are not the true knock-offs. but as the 3 bar spinner is tapped and rotated off as a true knock-off would be. the hubcap is released and the lug nuts are exposed - it has Stewart Warner 160 mph speedometer and matching tach - it has a great sounding AM-FM radio w/8 track tape player and power antenna - leather seats are from a late 60's Corvette - it has a very nice appearing set of custom leather upholstered roll bars behind the seats and a leather headliner with chrome trim strips across the headliner and a matching leather covered dash - it has very smooth. quick working power windows. hardtop styled doors. nbsp;crank out vent windows. and matching cable operated remote controlled exterior door mirrors on both sides - all of the lights. indicator lights. turn signals. high beam indicator. buzzer when you leave the key in the ignition - the neatness of the wiring under the dash and in the console. where most of the custom switches are at. will just amaze you - all of the glass is trimmed w/chrome metal edging as shown - it is all safety glass except the very small stationary 1/4 windows on each side behind the door windows. which appear to be Plexiglas - there are no cracks or chips in the glass - it has no power steering or brakes. nbsp;but is fully set up for air conditioning both under the hood and including the interior - I have never even looked at the AC to make it work. the belt was off when I bought it. and I've never really driven it on any road trips. or hardly even taken it out of town so I didn't need it anyway - what seems like a very small trunk lid. has a false floor w/double piano hinges to be able to store a spare tire. and still have some trunk space with a flat floor. once the spare tire is in place - after you've read all of this description. also realize that every last detail was taken care of before it ever was driven - we've all seen kit cars that were hurried up at the last and some things were never finished. many don't even have door glass - this would be the difference between an auto mechanic building most kit cars and an aircraft professional building this one - just to look at all of the trimmed out glass you can realize that all of the details have been done - the car is always garaged. has just been driven in the rain a couple of times. and I just drive it a couple of miles from my house to the shop a couple of times a month - when first started. it shows 80-85 lbs of oil pressure. nbsp;then runs at appx 60 lbs when warmed up - this is not being represented as a show car. but a great example of what a true muscle car was in its day - as far as the history of the Kellison. there were about 1000 kits produced in appx. 6 years. the J-1 through the J-6. which is what this car is. a J-6 - about 1/2 of the kits were of the J-6. and appx. 138 of the 500 are left - appx. 1/3 went to run at the salt flats. appx. 1/3 to run at the drags. and appx. 1/3 to be driven on the street - from what I've seen. heard and read. this car should be rated in about the best 5 or 6 street condition drivers of that remaining number of survivors - I have seen no evidence of any body damage nor have I caused any - the unrestored fiberglass body has some normal crow's foot cosmetic cracking in a couple of places. a little bit of fading on the paint job and a few paint chips here and there - Now comes the part that I don't like to put in and you don't like to hear. but eBay says is necessary - I am not a dealer. but I have described the car to the best of my ability - I have owned this car appx. 14 years and have tried to tell everything about it. but this car is over 40 years old. there is no warranty from me or the Kellison Company. and the car is being sold as is. where is. with no warranties either expressed or implied by myself. the owner. As far as my history on eBay. you can check my dealings under eagle-hd where I have been selling 40 year old car parts for the Honda 600's along with a few complete Honda 600 cars for appx. 10 years. so this is not my first rodeo - ( the Honda 600 was the first Honda imported and had the 2 cyl air cooled "motorcycle type" engine ) - you can also check out one of my custom Honda 600's with my 45 ft. Eagle bus on YouTube under - ray cave Honda 600 - Thanks for looking and good luck with your bidding - and as always. I will assist any international buyers in any way that I can and for all buyers. nbsp;secure indoor storage for a reasonable amount of time after payment. is no problem at all - Ray Cave
