For sale 1995 Lotus Esprit S4s

The Lotus S4s:

The S4 was succeeded in 1995 by the S4s (S4 sport), hich upped power to 300bhp (224kW; 304PS) and 290lb*ft (393N*m) of torque, mproving all-around performance while retaining the comfort of the previous version.

Top speed was increased to 168mph (270km/h), kid pad increased to 0.91g, n increased slalom of 61.7mph and a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds.

Although the engine kept its 2.2-litre capacity, any modifications were added to improve engine performance. Some of the changes were enlarged inlet ports, ylinder head modifications, re-calibrated ECM and a revised turbocharger.

The most visible external styling changes was the addition of a larger rear wing taken from the Sport 300.

These S4s were considered to be the pinnacle of the four cylinder Esprit and ended the production of the cars until the V8 powered cars appeared in the USA a few years later.

History/Information about this car:

I have known this car from new and purchased it in 2008 from the original owner. I feel that the time has come to let the S4s go to a new owner to finish the restoration that I began on this exceptional car. This Esprit has never been used as a track car.

The exterior color of the car is Lotus Empire Green Metallic with an interior color of Magnolia. It is the 1st of only 7 cars with that color combination. The car was originally sold to the first owner when he lived in Florida where he used the car as a daily driver to and from work, e then relocated to Arizona taking the car with him and continuing to use the car as a daily driver. Since my ownership the car is only driven on weekends and other occasions. The car currently just turned 78,573 miles.

The car was purchased with the plans to conduct a complete restoration on it for local shows and weekend driving. I have worked on Esprits for 15 years and began the restoration by going over all the cars mechanicals.

Some of the items addressed (within the last 2000 miles) are as follows:

Mechanicals

New alternator – replacing the factory unit with a more reliable higher output version

Custom header – fabricated by a Lotus supplier and jet coated

New battery

Rebuilt front end – upper and lower ball joints, uter tie rod ends, nspected steering rack and replaced front springs.

New timing belt as well as alternator belt, ower steering belt and air conditioning belt.

Green dot exhaust cam gear

Reconditioned the Radiator, rofessionally cleaned and flushed out.

Cylinder head reconditioned was removed and sent to professional facility

Charger cooler pump replaced with an electric unit for improved performance andreliability

Pulled fuel tanks, esealed and flushed to prevent rusting with POR-15

Flushed brake system and installed EBC yellow pads

Flat bottom non air bag steering wheel

Sumitomo HTRZ II tires 17 inch

New Lotus gear shift knob and custom short shifter.

Mobil 1 15/50 synthetic oil and K & N oil filter.

Mobil 1 used all its life.

Additionally the car has received other new items as follows:

New stainless steel Borla muffler installed, ingle outlet exhaust.

Spax shocks – all four corners coil overs.

K&N air filter.

Ram air modification (kept original hosing).

Stainless steel braided clutch line.

RC Engineering fuel injectors(dramatically improves idle, hrottle response and will support the available upgraded turbos)

Stage 3 performance chip (18% increase in torque and top end power)

MSD ignition coils

Magnecor plug wires

Iridium plugs

New clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing installed at 60K miles.

New water pump installed at 30K miles.

Transmission oil changed and new axle seals installed.

Coolant level sensor replaced.

Wheels & Tires

Wheels came painted from the factory; the original owner removed the paint and polished the wheels until they appear to have almost a chrome appearance. They have begun to “dull” slightly and could stand a rebuffing to bring back a glaring shine. The wheels are in good condition with a few minor scratches.

New tires installed within the last 2000 miles (see above).

Interior of car

A well thought out Lotus full leather interior in Magnolia is original to the car. The interior is showing some wear due to its age.

The interior is undamaged; (with the exceptions shown in the pictures)

To bring the car back to a high standard the leather could be repaired by an upholstery shop and the carpets could be professionally re-dyed or replaced. I would rate the current interior as a 6/7 on a 1 to 10 scale. I give it this rating based on the wear of seats and carpets a

All switches and controls work as they should, ll lights function and all instruments work.

A/C blows cold, he system is tight and has no leaks.

The original stereo has been upgraded to an Alpine head unit with iPod connectivity, Rockford Fosgate speakers with bass blockers for crisp, lean sound and a Sound Ordinance 8” powered sub to provide all the bottom end to complete the system

Exterior of car

The car is painted in Lotus Empire Green Metallic which is a very attractive color seldom used by the factory, oupled with the Magnolia interior it really is a good combination seldom seen as only a few were produced.

I would rate the exterior as a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10, sthe car was repainted the original color within the last year

The body is undamaged there are no cracks/breaks in any panel. The car has never been in an accident/wrecked and all panels are original. The car has the painted roof panel.

Other information

I have 2 keys and the original Lotus owner’s manual that will go along with the car to its new home.

I would get in this car right now without hesitation and drive it anyplace in the United States I am that confident in the reliability of the mechanical systems on this great car.

It is the new owner’s responsibility to arrange pickup or shipping of the vehicle. I will work with any shipper or the new owner and will store the car (inside) for an acceptable period of time (30 days) until the new owner can take delivery. The payment must be made per Ebay guidelines and all payment must clear before the car is released to the new owner. I have a clear Florida title in hand.

If you plan on flying in/driving home, he nearest large airport (approx. 20 miles from my location) is Jacksonville International Airport, will agree to pick up the new buyer at the airport and transport him to the car with proper notification.

If you are driving in/trailering home, live near Interstate 10 at Jacksonville Florida for your trip planning purposes, will assist in the loading of the car.

This vehicle is being sold as is, here is with no warranty, xpressed written or implied.
