Description

Shipped this wagon from Europe for a friend to drive around when he'd visit the USA. He doesn't like automatic transmissions. He never came over so I put about 5000 kilometers on it because of it being so cheap to run compared to my truck. This car drives wonderfully and very straight due to it's light weight and long wheel base. Stll has European road worthy certificate meaning no tears in ball joint boots or axle boots and no excessive play in any of the drivetrain components. This is a very strict test. The non-turbo 5-cylinder powers the car surprisingly well. especially paired with the indestructible Getrag 5-speed transmission. In a 0 to 60Mph run I bet I'd beat a 300TDT but haven't tried. Clutch is good and tight. Motor purrs like a kitten. starts right up. all through winter where it got to freezing temperatures. Amazing gas mileage due to the 5-speed and no turbo. (The OM602 Turbo from a 91 300D or so will bolt right in by the way. if you really want to fly down the freeway. I'd lower it in that case which makes it look like a beautiful AMG Sportline. This car is light. as everything is manual. only the sunroof is electric! seats. windows. antenna. climate control everything is manual. The heat is so manual that there is an actual valve to open the coolant line going to the radiator inside the car that heats it up. This used to be electric but I assume that electric valve got stuck open at some point. This is an easy fix. for any questions do not hesitate to contact me through Ebay. Clear Arizona title in my name. More pictures will follow when it's daylight out. although the midnight blue looks best at night. The paint is in good condition but of course has little chips and minor imperfections. There's a scratch on the driver side fender that can be buffed out I think. It's not that deep. Happy bidding. Non-refundable deposit of $500 required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. I reserve to end this auction any time. the car is for sale locally as well. On Mar-30-15 at 21:49:19 PDT. seller added the following information:As luck goes. I went to the car wash today and someone tapped the passenger head light glass and grill with their hitch. (The hitch on this Benz is factory by the way) These are very cheap items. in Europe. The grill I'll find here no problem. but the headlight glass is a bit harder to find cause it's euro only. If I don't find one to fix it I promise I will send one from Europe to the winning bidder. It's very easy to install. There is no other damage than that. Also. of course all of a sudden the radio acts up and says "protect". It's worked all this time and now it wants a code. It's an expensive radio actually and I am confident this can be taken care of by calling the manufacturer. The rear windshield wiper does not work. An aftermarket remote has been installed that opens and closes the locks. but the one on the hatch is a bit sticky sometimes and then doesn't open. I noticed a rust through at the left rear jack point. the fron is starting to rust a little. Also there's a rust spot on the right side fender. This is not through. a similar spot is visible near the license plate light. where the paint bubbles some. There is no structural rust at all as it would have never passed the road worthy test in Europe. I managed to take some more photo's but it was getting dark already after I got out of work. This is an old car but as Mercedes people know they will actually run forever. Most of these are being exported from Europe to Africa where they're used as taxi's. This one does not have A/C. This can be installed of course. but it's a bit of a job. Like all mercedes with a blue dash. it's starting to crack from the heat. It's not too bad yet. The car spend a long time in a warm climate in France where it's sunny. I've seen way worse in California. The wheels are the upgraded ones from a later wagon. It had steel wheels originally. 4 good michelins all around.
