Description

This is an AUSTIN MINI COOPER 'S' Mark II (1275 CC)I purchased the car May 1992 for $15. 00 from The New England Classic Car Companyhe milage was about 7500 from my memory since I lost the original bill of sale. It was advertised in Hemmings as the finest race conversion Mini in the US. I had been looking for one for several years and was certain it was the best. The car shipped from the factory April 1968 for USA sale and is LHD out of the factory. The only factory fitted equipment beyond standard was a fresh air heater. The car has the original engine (9F-SA-Y/47396). Heritage Trust Certificate. Before I acquired it there was a very professional customization as follows:12V positive rewiring. hydroelastic suspension upgrade. dash customized in wood adding a full complement of smith gauges. sliding roof top. GB magnesium Minilite wheels. dual Montecarlo gas tanks. window heater for rear window with installed separate toggle. race grade oil cooler and tropical fan. I kept it garaged and was meticulous to maintain it while keeping milage very low - never outside in the winter and only a few road trips to Montreal for the F1. Daniel Riccardo drove it around the block in Montreal in his rookie year with Scuderia Toro Rosso There has been no accidents or any body damage since I bought it. In June 2002 with about 15. 00 miles a gear failed in the transmission. I had all mechanicals completely overhauled. All new gear cluster. layshaft. bearings. and engine fully disassembled and assembled and blueprinted. This work was done by Alfas Unlimited in Norfolk CT by Keith Goring. a master racecar driver himself. The restoration took 3 years and was completed early in 2004. The cost was $9640 and I have driven it another 10. 00 miles since with no incidents or problems. This mini is currently in California recently shipped from Hawaii and is fully street ready to drive anywhere. It has perfect title but says Austin Healy because DMV had no entry for this model. It has passed every safety check since 1992.
