Description

I have up for sale a used Mitsubishi Eclipse with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. I got this car a few years ago in rough shape. I fixed up the things that were needed, mechanically, but no so much cosmetically. Mechanically, this is a pretty sound vehicle. Cosmetically, no so much. As you can see in the pictures, the paint is in rough shape, there are some spots of rust here and there, but nothing rusted though anywhere that I have seen. Just about everything was working on the car. The A/C was blowing ice cold for years, until just a couple weeks ago, when a leak sprung up. I put dye in it and saw the condenser and a fitting were definitely leaking. Outside of the leaks, the A/C did work great. The heat works, cruise control, engine and trans is all good. No check engine lights or any of that. It has a ton of miles on the car. I swapped out the motor when I got the car. It came out of a Galant with a little over 100K miles on it. That motor was in such great shape, that I ran only Mobile One full synthetic oil in it since then. I have changed it every 5000 miles or less since then. I changed out the bearing in the transmission as well, they were bad. There is full synthetic oil in there as well. The cooling system has been flushed twice now, once when I installed a new radiator, and again when I did the heater core. The sunroof works, but you need to give it a little help to initially open it. The tires are worn down to about 25-30%, so you could get a little time out of them yet. It has tinted windows, and an aftermarket exhaust, which sounds pretty nice I must saw. I, also, installed performance motor mounts. Since I installed them you feel a lot of the engine vibration. They are very hard mounts. It isn't too bad driving down the highway, but at idle, it is very noticeable. The one major cosmetic flaw it has is on the top dash cover. The dash is cracked in a bunch of places and missing some pieces. I have epoxied some of it back together. These cars are know for this issue. It does not affect any of the functions of the car, but figured I would mention it. You can see in the pictures what I am talking about.
Listen, I am trying to be as honest as I can. I drove this car, almost, everyday for the last couple of years. I have too many cars now and this is the one on the chopping block. I am NOT getting rid of this car due to some major malfunction or anything like that. I am an ASE certified mechanic, so I am no dummy. I have personally put over 50,000 miles on this car, and would continue to drive it, if I didn't need to get rid of a car. I am not expecting to get a ton of money for this car. I understand it doesn't have much value, especially in the condition it's in (miles, physical appearance, etc). This car drives pretty good for being 16 years old. Keep that in mind too. This car is 16 years old. You are NOT getting a new, perfect car, with no flaws.

Below you'll find a list of items that have been replaced over the last few years since I bought the car.
  • Used engine with a little over a 100K
  • Timing belt kit with new water pump
  • New bearings in transmission
  • Radiator
  • Both front CV axles
  • Front brake pads and rotors
  • thermostat
  • heater core
  • upper radiator hose
  • lower control arm (can't remember which side)
  • Air filter
  • All the back lighting bulbs in the instrument cluster
  • a window regulator and motor
  • All motor mounts.
  • Catback exhaust system. (2.5" pipe and 4" outlet I believe) I think I have the silencer too if you want it.
  • Battery

Finally, this is being so as is, with no warranty expressed or implied. This car is fully driveable in it's current state. You can tow it home if you'd like, or if you would like to get the paperwork needed done and drive it home, that is fine too. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me prior to bidding or auction close. If you would like to see it in person, that's fine. We can try and work out an arrangement for that as well. Keep in mind, I work too! I will get back to you ASAP. This is a low reserve auction. I am not going any lower than what I can scrape the car for.
Thank you very much for looking and good luck bidding.
