1953 Studebaker Champion Regal Starlight Coupe Body: All steel no bondo except paint smoothing. Engine: ZZ 430 GM Number 221 of only 430 made. Most powerful small block crate motor G. M. has produced up to 1999. 350 C. I. 430 HP @ 5200 RPM 430 ft/lbs torque @ 4000 RPM. 9. 6-1 compression ratio. Fast burn aluminum heads. Hot cam from LT1/LT4 engines. Self aligning roller rocker arms with 1. 6-1 ratio. Hollow stem intake valves sodium filled stem exhaust valves. Duel plane intake manifold made by G. M. ( no Third party) with 750 CFM Holly G. M. Hiel Distributor. Chassis: Boxed with mustang II front clip. Steering: Manual rack and pinion. Brakes: Manual Disk front and rear. Suspension: Air ride technologies front independent from rear. 5 link front and rear sway bars. Transmission: GM T-5. Rear end: Ford 9 inch with 3. 55 moser gears. Cooling system: Walker radiator (cobra) with twin spal fans. Exhaust: Flow master mufflers ceramic coated connected to custom headers with “H” balance pipe. Wiring: Francis. Battery: Optima located in trunk. Intererior: Red leather by Sherman Packard ( great grandson of namesake). Dash: 1957 hawk with limited edition moon gauges. Seats: front 1962 hawk rear stock. Extras: HVAC hot rod air. More Details:Vehicle was restored from 1999-2001 and was awarded one of five "Best Design Awards" from the American Automobile Design Engineers. It has the original body with no fiberglass or sheet metal replacement. There was never any rust to repair. Paint is Deep Black from Dupont with multiple clear coats. The suspension is attached to a custom made box and tube frame with mustang II front clip. Uses a five link system to keep things square. Independent front and rear air ride suspension. The engine is a limited edition ZZ 430 GM that was professionally hand built. It is # 221 out of 430 made in 1999 and produces 430 ft. lbs. of torque at 4000 rpm and 430 hp at 5280 rpm.
