Offered for sale, rom KURT TANNER MOTORCARS is this very decent and original BJ-8 Convertible that left the factory in the quintessential color scheme of Healey Blue/ Navy Blue trim. It is the very late desirable Phase 2 model with revised rear suspension, ouble side lights, push-button lockable door handles, alnut dashboard, ower brakes, nd 150 bhp engine.
This car was recently purchased from its longtime owner where the car had been sitting for a while. Work on the car that was just completed includes draining the old fuel from the tank and refilling with it with fresh gas, nstalling a 160 degree thermostat and a new battery, leeding the clutch and brakes with new fluid. The car started right up and ran and drove exceptionally well with perfect oil pressure, o smoke or noises, excellent gearbox with a silent first gear and good syncros, nd strong working overdrive unit. The good-sounding exhaust note is very robust. The tires have flat spots from long term storage and need replacing.
The car appears to be very original except for the replacement of the rocker panels and front fenders with fiberglass items some years ago, hen they were readily available. The rest of the panels are all original to the car and in the correct material. There is some small, epairable damage to the RH rear fender. The panel fit all around is very decent. Grille fit is very good. A luggage rack was previously fitted to the trunk lid. Overall, he appearance of the exterior body and paintwork is nice and approachable for a good driver.
The interior trim on the car is highly original and attractive in it's correct Navy blue Ambla vinyl. The carpets have been changed at one point to navy blue loop, ut the car remains very well preserved with the rest of it's original panel kit, front and rear seats, rmrest, op pad, ooden dashboard, riginal tonneau cover, original style soft top, riginal and working BMC radio, ey set, tc. The top dash pad is in good condition along with the armbars. The driver's seat bottom needs new foam. The car's mainrails are beautifully straight. It could use new rockers and front outriggers at some point. The trunk floor and mainfloors appear solid. The front toeboard areas need some repairs, s seen from underneath the car.
Overall, this excellent running and driving BJ-8 is a very decent car that can be used and enjoyed right away and is great fun to drive. It is the highly desirable, ost popular, nd late specification 3000 MK3 Phase 2 model which offers all the sensible and user-friendly upgrades. It is finished in the desirable Healey color scheme of Ice blue with Navy blue trim and top.
