This listing is for the commissioned build of the RÜNGE Type FF008. The "Frankfurt Flyer" started as a lifelong dream of building my own aluminum bodied sports racer similar to the post war racing privateers of Germany. After owning many Porsche cars over the years, n 2011 I began the Flyer project by building a wooden buck and over the course of a year, completed my first ground up build. I have since built 4 Flyers commissioned by fellow speed enthusiasts. Please understand this listing is for an unbuilt car because nearly every detail is bespoke to your personal taste, iterally hand built by me personally in my rural Minnesota workshop. This build position is slated for completion April 2017 and is the last I will offer for 2016.

The following photos show my latest design options included in this build such as reverse hinged "suicide" doors, ustom leather treatment, riginal Porsche Pre A Drums, reshly built Porsche 356 engine by aircooled 40 year landspeed veteran Tom Bruch, EVO 5 Speed Transmission, olished aluminum finish and more...
The build starts with my custom designed mid engine chassis. I utilize a VW front beam with dual height adjusters and swing axle rear end with 4 points of height adjustment including 2 from inside the cockpit. A WEVO 5 Speed Transaxle situated mid-ship connected to my own custom shift linkage design giving a crisp and precise shifting experience.

A big bore Porsche 356 Engine used for just the right balance of power to the 1100LB Car.

The original wooden buck is used to shape aluminum tubing which acts as a guide for inner paneling and final aluminum skin.

The underpinnings being wrapped with hand shaped aluminum skin. Sheet alu is hammered over tree stumps and wheeled to shape on the English Wheel.

Fully polished raw aluminum finish allows a look into the hand crafted work that goes into each car I build.

Shortly after WWII in war-torn Germany, small group of speed enthusiasts emerged from tool rooms and barns sporting lightweight aluminum bodied race cars across the German countryside. These cars were purpose built with one goal in mind, peed. The cars shared common underpinnings most often in the form of scrap Volkswagen, orsche and aircraft pieces from the left over military vehicles.
Early day "Privateers" such as Petermax Muller and Huscke von Hanstein traded scarce food supplies with Wolfsburg engineers for modified Porsche and VW parts to build the Petermax Muller Special. The Muller Special was built on a Kubelwagen chassis with Schwimmwagen front suspension and highly modified Vogelsang heads. The car went on to win and set records in the first Postwar days of racing.

Other "Eigenbau" (translated Home-built) Aluminum bodied specials included Kurt Kuhnke's VW beetle based racer and the sleek Rometsch Porsche. One racing special made a name for itself, hat was Walter Glockler's VW "Eigenbau." After the war, lockler had opened his Frankfurt VW Dealership and had a long standing interest in motorsport. He appointed the ingenious race engineer Hermann Ramelow to build his chassis and coachbuilder C.H. Weidenhausen to wrap the car in its beautiful aluminum skin. The car began wearing a VW badge but in a short time, orsche had approached Glockler pressuring him to put the Porsche name on his car in exchange for Porsche parts. The deal was done and the Glockler Porsche was born. Glockler went on to build several variations of his Porsche Specials, ll bodied by C.H. Weidenhausen, eventually the car would give birth to the Porsche 550 Spyder.
