Description

1989 Camaro RS for sale

Originally it was as a 305 TBI - 5 speed T5 manual car.Based on carfax report, nd condition of vehicle, believe odometer to be accurate.

I purchased the car early this past summer as a rolling chassis, lanning on building a street-legal drag car to play with, efore I saw how clean, traight, ust-free, nd well-maintained it really was. It was too nice to beat on and thrash.

It has now been reconditioned and put back into street/strip ready condition, ith a brand new GM Performance Parts crate engine and is ready for a new life.

Specifications:

Engine:

290hp/325 ft/lb - GMPP crate engine, art number: 12499529

http://www.oempartsdepot.com/350-Crate-Engine-290-HP-12499529-P140803.aspx

This engine was chosen mainly due to the transmission capability, nd street manners. 325 ft-lbs is the most that the factory T5 was ever rated at, nd I believe the transmission to have stock internals still. However, he great thing about this motor is the power and torque curve. While it makes 325 ft-lbs at 3750 rpms, t still makes nearly 300 ft-lbs at idle, hich is pretty amazing for a streetable small block with a factory warranty. It runs excellent, ulls hard, nd you barely have to touch the throttle from a standstill with all the torque available, ven at idle. It hits peak hp (290) at 5100, o again, very streetable, nd durable combination. It also carries a 2 year/50,000 mile warranty.

Intake: Vintage Single-Plane TM-1 Edelbrock

Carb: Carter AFB Competition Series, 50 cfm, 9755S 2714

Ignition: New centrifugal advance HEI distributor (no vacuum advance, s specified), SD 8mm wires

Fuel System: In-tank electric carb fuel pump, FT fuel pressure regulator/gage underhood with return line to tank, psi supply feed.

Accessories: Chrome/Polished PS pump, lternator, P, nderdrive pulleys, erpentine setup

Exhaust:

Stainless Steel Mid-Length headers

Cat Delete

QTP electronic exhaust cutout valve, ight after the y-pipe. Controlled by dash switch.

Magnaflow Stainless Catback Exhaust, ” primary pipe, ual 3.5” polished tips.

Chassis/Driveline:

T5 manual trans, ike new clutch/flywheel. Shifts great, o synchro noise. New trans mount. Mini-starter.

7.5” Posi 10 bolt rearend, otive Gear set, .10 ratio

KYB Excel-G Struts/Shocks

New brakes/brake lines (Parking brake assemblies removed for weight)

Weld Racing – Forged Rodlite wheels

Tires – Front: Falken Sincera P205/70/14 (almost 100% tread)

Rear: Futura GLS Super Sport P295/50/15 (around 50% tread)

I am not sure what backspace/offset are on the rear wheels, ut I have owned many thirdgen F-cars and have never seen a wheel that could run 295’s without having to lift the back, r roll the fenders. These are huge, nd have plenty of clearance and suspension travel. Absolutely no dents/road rash on wheels.

Interior:

Aftermarket front black leather seats, riginal cloth rear seats. Headliner in perfect condition, o sags. Carpet is clean enough to be new, ut I am not sure if it’s original or has been replaced. Rear seatbelts have been removed for weight, long with the rearview mirror adjustments. New dash pad, ftermarket tach with shift light, ftermarket coolant temp/oil pressure gages. Hurst shift handle.

Audio system upgraded with aftermarket speakers front/rear, nd a Sony Xplod Drive S CD player (with aux input), ated at 52wX4. Sounds awesome.

Weather-stripping was replaced at some point, ikely when the car was painted.

Exterior:

4” cowl fiberglass hood with stainless pins

Beautiful base/clear dark metallic red paint (Guessing around 4-5 years old)

New front turn lenses/rear covers.

Trying to explain paint without seeing it in person is difficult, ut this is a very nice job. All door jambs and openings were done, nd little or no trace of the original paint remain anywhere. The best way I can describe it is that it’s not a show-car-only paint job, ut you sure wouldn’t be shy to put this car in a local show, nd you also wouldn’t be too concerned if you got a little rubber on the rear fenders from the occasional holeshot. I tried to get it from all angles in the pictures. It's really a super clean car.

As the pictures show of the chassis and inside the rear fenderwells, his car is as close to completely rust free as I have ever seen. Even the suspension components are more or less rust free.

To summarize how it drives, have only had it on the road now for about 350 miles since it was put together. It runs as you would expect a new GMPP motor to run. The torque curve of the engine will bring a smile to just about anybody’s face, nd if that doesn’t, he exhaust cutout valve will. It’s very streetable and easy to drive, ut get into the gas, nd it’s right there. I had to drive it a short distance only one time in the rain, nd I would not recommend that. J Taking off on dry asphalt without spinning the tires is hard enough.

It is also advertised locally, o I reserve the right to end the auction early if an acceptable offer is made.

Bought a new house, o this car needs to go. No reserve.

Vehicle is located in Renssalaear, ndiana, bout halfway between Chicago and Indy.
