Description

Selling my Manx style buggy due to having too many other interests. I bought it here on ebay 4 or 5 years ago, hinking it would be an easy fix up, ut whoever put it together really didn’t know what he was doing. So, he body came off the chassis and I started over. Chassis is a 1966. Engine is a 1600 from 75-79, riginally fuel injected, ut converted to a Scat intake and 2 bbl carb, think a Holley. I never drove this buggy, want to be very clear about this. It was driven on to a trailer, hen I drove it into my garage. At the time it seemed to be running lean, nd idling quite high. I will be including a complete dual carburetor setup. Once I had the body off, t was painted. The pictures of it in green show it how it is now, n light blue when I got it, o you can have a reference. There’s no way it could have been driven safely, nd dependably, nd as a mechanic by trade I had to make it right. Here’s what’s new: complete wiring harness, use box, eatherpack connectors (I’ll include the extras and the crimp tool), eadlights with built in LED park&signals, rake shoes, ardware, heel cylinders, ront and rear drums, ront wheel bearings & seals, -brake cables, -brake handle, aster cylinder with reservoir (externally mounted and accessible), rake and clutch pedal assemblies, oller gas pedal, lutch cable, ccelerator cable, ight and wiper switches (dimmer switch built into the light switch), ear light sockets, teering damper, an belt cover, ooling air intake screen, lectric fuel pump, asher fluid reservoir with built in pump

The steering setup isn’t installed yet, have the upper column from a ’70 Beetle, ith key, urn signal switch, nd locking ignition, nd I made up a steering shaft with U-joint that should work well. I’ll include a Grant GT steering wheel with adapter. Body is bolted to the chassis with bolts and nylon locknuts, ith steel reinforcement strips along the body’s mounting flange.

Seats are leather from a Chevy Malibu, n case you get caught in the rain and they shouldn’t become sponges. Shoulder belts are there, eetle speedo with gas gauge, ighter. There’s a rear seat bottom and backrest, hould match the bucket color not bad, ut I’d planned on using a spun aluminum gas tank with built in gauge, ince I didn’t know how well the original tank was. New sending unit included if you want to use the original Beetle tank. Tail lights are 65 Chevy. Has adapters for 5 bolt Chevy rims. 14 inch in front, 5 in the back. Has an under engine skid plate. Short throw shifter.

It’s located in Cornwall, ntario, anada, inutes from the border crossing near Massena, Y. It has a legal Ontario ownership in my name, egistered as a 1966 VW. If the winning bidder is bringing it back into the US, will accompany you to US Customs to make sure there aren’t any unanswered questions. There is no VIN or serial number anywhere on it. The front bumper shown in the blue before picture is long gone.

I encourage anyone seriously interested to contact me and ask any questions you may have. I’ll expect a NON REFUNDABLE deposit via paypal within 24 hours of the auction end. This is to discourage anyone who isn’t serious. The balance can be paid in US currency upon pickup. It rolls freely. Look at what these are going for when fully functional, nd I think my asking price is fair. The winning bidder is expected to pick it up within a month, fter that the deposit will be considered forfeited unless arrangements for storage are made.

If I think of more details, ’ll post them. Keeping in mind this chassis is 50 years old, nd the body unknown, t’s sold as is with no guarantees whatsoever. Thanks!

Note: yes I know the rear camber is "generous", eep in mind the original body is gone, hope with the weight of a battery, as tank, nd stuff it'll be a bit better, ut there's a way to adjust the torsion bars.
