Description

This is my "Spitsix" project. I found the original 1.3 liter much too under powered for my taste. Therefore, put a TR6 motor in along with a TR6 transmission and GT6 differential. The spifire had a 4.11 rear end which had quick starts off of the line, ut top speed is redlining around 55 MPH. This car has a 3.27 rear end and is running 4,000 RPM at 60 MPH, o you can keep up with modern highways. The listed mileage is NOT actualvehicle mileage, imply what was on the new guage. It has less than 500 miles since the complete and total rebuild!!!!
Here's the true gem for whoever decides to buy by this car. I couldn't allow all of that work to be powered by duel Stromberg carbs, o $3,500 later it was fitted with TRIPLE WEBER SIDE DRAFT carburetors using "Triumph Tune" intake manifolds. We are talking added horsepower here, eople!
This car was a labor of love. After rebuilding the engine (using high compression pistons) and having the head rebuilt with new intake and exhaust valves w/ competition springs, ended up driving it only a handful of times a few years ago. I doubt there are more than 100 miles on the engine. It has sat in my garage for years.
When I drove it, t had PLENTY of power. I lost interest in the car due to my growing family and new interests in Harley's.
The car comes with a full tonneau cover that covers the entire interior of the car up to the dash and the soft boot to cover the convertible top when it is folded down. The interior recieved a complete carpet kit and I opted for Mazda Miata seats which are more comfortable and more desirable than the original Vinyl seats that BURN YOU in the summer after they are in the sun for 5 minutes.

In the last month, have spent over $1,000 on parts, tc.
I just rebuilt the Weber DCOE's.
I removed and cleaned out the fuel tank and put on a new fuel filter. (who wants trash in pristine carbs)?
Soft top: Brand new with nice clear windows.
Radiator: Brand new aluminum 3 row. (Complete with engine flush)
Who wants a Delco or Lucas distributor? Not this guy. New mallory dual points distributor.
Again, ditched Lucas and installed a Bosch coil to produce plenty of electricity for a strong spark.
Brake system was rebuilt as well new pads/shoes, ebuilt wheel cylinders and master cylinder.
New clutch, ressure plate and throwout bearing.
I also have an original METAL hard top with all of the glass.
I put in a matching Smith's electronic tach which is more reliable than a gear driven tach.
Brand new starter.
Brand new temperature sending unit.
Brand new voltage stabilizer.
and many other replacement parts for a truly fine example of a 70's Era British Competition Racer!
I have driven the car some distance now. She is reliable. I have her running temperature in a great range. This car can be great for a weekend warrior to enjoy riding around in a true sportscar OR if you are interested in Triumph Spitfire Racing........this car has "all of the right stuff". It is a good platform to start from. The only thing I have not focused on is the suspension. A similar car (Red 1972 Spit6 completed car just sold for $22,900).
Everytime I drive this car, eople seem to keep their heads on a swivel drooling and staring at it. A literal head turner. I look forward to hearing from you and presenting the car. My first car was a Spitfire that I rebuilt beginning at age 14. I've owned them most of my life. I am interested in trying something new, igger. Don't be afraid to make an offer to trade for a big sportscar.
