Description

This 2003 Ford Taurus is in good working order. It has been my daily commuter for a few years now and I have had very little trouble with it. About a year ago, I drove this car to Seattle from Florida with no issues and have taken it in for routine maintenance since. I am very confident that it could easily make that trip again today. The only reason I am selling this car is because I will be moving to a different city and relying on public transport. If I were staying in Seattle, I would continue to own and use this car with confidence. I'll now describe the condition of the car to the best of my knowledge. I have little mechanical aptitude so I can only describe the condition empirically from my own personal experience using it on a regular basis. Mechanically, the car does not require anything major. The last repair that it has had (about a year ago) was an overhaul of the AC system and a new battery. A new compressor was installed so there are absolutely no AC issues. The tires are nearly 2 years old and have been rotated once. All four still have plenty of tread left. A friend told me that the CV axle boots could be lubricated or replaced because there is a slight crunchy noise when going over bumps on the front end. This has been audible for about a year now and doesn't seem to be indicative of a larger issue. I took the vehicle to a mechanic and asked if the shocks needed to be replaced and was told no. Overall, the vehicle drives smoothly and quietly both in the city and on the highway. The interior of the car is in good clean condition. There are no tears or major stains on any of the upholstery. I am a non smoker and rarely have passengers. The seats all adjust and fold down smoothly. The seat belts, radio, dashboard, steering wheel, and center console all work properly. In short, there are no issues with the interior. There is plenty of room in the car when the back seats are folded down. There is even a third set of seating for 2 (with seat belts) that folds out of the back of the car allowing for a total of 8 passengers. The rear drivers side window is not currently working. I think a fuse needs to be replaced but am not sure. There are some visible black scuffs in the rear storage area from bicycle tire marks. These can likely be buffed out. The exterior of the vehicle has a couple of nicks and scratches as visible in the photos. There are a couple of scratches on the front bumper and on one rear door trim but no major dents. The hood and roof are in good condition and the adjustable roof rack is in good working order. The biggest issue with this car (in my opinion) is the rear end. About a year ago, during the cross country drive, I was rear-ended while at a stop light. This resulted in a dented bumper and hatchback door. The door still closes securely and no lights were damaged. I have included photos of this damage. The locking mechanism for the rear hatchback door is currently in the locked position, but not securing the window itself. I am unsure how to unlock the rear window so I the window just sits closed but is not actually locked. This could be fixed if you knew how to unlock the rear window, but I haven't bothered to figure it out. Please feel free to message me with any questions about the vehicle. I will answer whatever I am able to. This car must be picked up on or before Sunday August 27 unless other arrangements are made prior to end of auction. I live in Greenlake in North Seattle.
