Description

1985 Jimmy with a 1991 mechanical 6.5 turbodiesel. This has been and is an awesome adventure vehicle that we have built up and used for many years. As we have gotten older (mid sixties) it's just a little too rough for us now and we have purchased a new truck. The good:'91 6.5 turbo diesel mechanical injector pump700r4 auto rebuilt last summerNew rear axles and 3.08 ring and pinion last year.New electronic Actved locker in rear last yearRebuilt transfer caseMichelin tires 16"Redone seatsNew ignition switch and door locksBilstein shocks. Rears less than a week old.JVC deck w/ aux. inNew steering wheelSuper rare FourWheel camper pop up camper made just for Blazer/Jimmy so it is open to front cab. It has a sink, countertop, a full size bed that expands out to almost queen size. It's rough inside, but totally usable. It has a solar panel on top. Above the bed is an extra large vent and escape hatch which is super cool for stargazing and roof access. It has new vinyl with fold up boards with windows and storm covers. Cost $1800 for just this. There are other things that I'm not remembering.
The Bad:Speedo sometimes makes noise and is 10mph off at 60mph.Aftermarket temp gaugeManual radiator dual electric fanManual downshifting on hills. I don't like the downshift point on new tranny.Manual locksManual WindowsPaint is sad in many areasRust is starting to rear its ugly head in just a few spots. No headliner. Was old and ugly so I yanked it and never needed it.Driver wing window lock is gone so window is sealed shut.Miss matched locking hubs. Both work fine.South Dakota registration. This truck has lived in Cabo for many years and we all register our cars in SD because of no smog and no insurance requirements.I'm sure there are other bad things but nothing major. We just returned from Arizona. She runs straight and easy down the road at 65 to 70 mph. The A/C was just completely redone for over $1500. The blower on high makes a little noise. Thanks
