There is a rebuild service on Ebay for $700No core charge, you ship'em and he rebuilds them. I can provide the listing number. He's in Cali and has a good reputation on Ebay as top notch. That is all that is known to be wrong with the truck and was a daily driver until August 2016!
ANYONE WHOM WOULD LIKE TO COME SEE IT,.. IS WELCOME TO DO SO.
2005 Dodge Ram 2500Black on BlackSLT5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel w/Chip (Bully)4x4Quad CabHard to find 8' BedWheel base is like 157-158 it's a beast!
The Good: It does run and idle. Electric windows, electric drivers seat, electric door locks, Brush guard, 55 watt halo, ladder rack, tool boxes, fire extinguisher, Bully Tri-Dog Chip, New Tires, New tank fuel pump, New axle U-Joints last winter, Exhaust replaced about 5 years ago, undercarriage is good as I spray it with undercoat every 12-24 months, New sway bar & stabilizer about 3 years ago, New oil pan and gasket last summer, New injector pump about 3 years ago, Oil & filter changed regularly, 12v to 120v power inverter (behind driver seat), Overall very clean condition for a work truck with minimal damage. Adult owned and operated (50 years old). I'm probably leaving out other new items I've forgotten, but basically anything it needed it got.
The Bad: It needs fuel injectors or an injector pump. But I'm really leaning toward injectors and am about 90% sure on that. I replaced the tank pump. Just to be sure no weak delivery tank to pump.
*Because I didn't want to break the bands or get rust and dirt in my face and eyes, I made an access door in the bed(not a big deal). It's solid. I've had bad injectors before and my gut is injectors. Moving on.
The chip is currently disconnected but easily reconnected. The chip LCD interface has a mind of it's own and works only when it feels like it. I got tired of it's nonsense and disconnected the power, etc. Takes about 5 minutes to plug in.
The AC doesn't work, may just need a charge. I just rolled the windows down.
I really can't think of anything else bad on it! It's only got 154k miles, which for a cummins diesel is just past the break in period. It has miles and miles left on it! Probably another 100k easy and then some.
This motor is strong and can pull chevy and ford down the road all day long! Absolute freaking animal! The most powerful truck I ever owned! If someone spends the time to fix this, you will have an absolutely amazing steal of a deal!!!
Why are you selling?Trust me, it isn't easy and in fact it's a bit insane. But I decided to get a small truck and did yesterday, so I would just as soon sell it as fix it at this point. At 50 years old working on this monster really bothers my back. I have a bad disc lower back.
