Description

1987 Chevrolet 3/4 ton Scottsdale 4x4. This truck is a Pacific Northwest owned beauty! 65,000 original documented miles! The pictures of the truck speak for themselves, and you will be hard pressed to find another one with these low miles in this good of condition. Exceptional quality from top to bottom, and it runs and drives as good as it looks.

I bought this truck from a friend who had the truck in his family since 1994. His dad bought the truck in Montana and brought it with him to Nebraska for a year and then to Washington State, where it spent the last 19 years. It was the father’s secondary vehicle as he worked for the local Island County Sheriff and had his patrol vehicle most of the time. While this did result in the low mileage, he did regularly drive the truck enough to keep it maintained and functioning sufficiently. When the father passed away a few years back, the son took ownership of the truck but had no interest in actually using it, and subsequently I purchased it from the son.

This truck is the basic model, but this does not mean it lacked what really makes these trucks so cool; their simplicity combined with reliability, and these two words describe this truck very well. It utilizes manual crank windows, door locks, with no A/C or cruise control. In other words, nothing to break or malfunction.

With a 5.7L Throttle Body Injected motor (first year this was used in these trucks) these early fuel injection trucks proved to be far more reliable than their carbureted brothers. Lower emissions, more fuel efficient and better drivability are all hallmarks of this setup and this truck is no different; runs like it just came off the showroom floor. The truck even has the factory exhaust still intact and working quite well, no leaks, nice and quiet.

Truck was equipped from GM with the bulletproof Muncie SM465 manual 4 speed transmission, a no frills, last forever, hold up to anything kind of transmission. Shifts through all the gears effortlessly, and when you need it, “granny gear” is there to get that truck rolling with a load or creeping along in 4 wheel drive. Mated up to a NP208, factory manual locking hubs, 4 wheel drive engages and works as it should… this setup really gets the job done.

Interior is in exceptional shape, no stains or tears to speak of, and the seat is perfect. Retains factory stereo, tilt steering column is slop free and tight, dual fuel tanks switch back and forth and work properly, all gauges and lights work etc. Honestly the interior is undoubtedly where this truck shines the most; minus the small crack in the center dash, it is nearly flawless.

Exterior paint is probably where this truck could be nitpicked. It has the factory paint with some touch up here and there but is actually in pretty good shape minus some of the clear coat peeling. Do not forget, this is a 30 year old truck so it does have a couple very small dents in the passenger door, and a tiny bit of surface rust where the paint was chipped from rocks and sand. But again, I would say I am nitpicking, because it really is in much better shape than most trucks of this age. Does not have any cancer type rust anywhere, cab corners and rockers are solid as well as fenders etc.

Tires are nearly new and they sit on handsome factory white steel rims and Chevrolet “Dog Dish” hub caps that are in excellent shape. I also just replaced the shocks (still had factory shocks when I bought it) with KYB Gas Adjusts at all four corners, and new steering stabilizer for good measure.

If you have been looking for one of these trucks, look no further because you will not be disappointed in this truck; it really is one of the nicest ones out there. Furthermore, it is ready to drive you to your destination wherever that may be, with a full tune-up recently completed, as well as fluid drain and fill to all drivetrain and chassis greased and inspected. I live close to Interstate 90 in North Bend, WA and a car hauler/trailer/lowboy can make it to my address, so shipping is no problem and I will assist with getting it loaded. Clean and clear Washington State Title in my name. Please call me with any questions you may have, or if you would like more pics... Patrick 425-495-1969
