I am relisting this car, with no reserve as it is time to let it go. This is not a restored car, but rather a very unique, extremely solid, very reliable, fun car. After the last time I ran the auction, I thought I would keep it, and spent a little bit of money on cleaning up a few things. I had some of the dings bumped out (not perfect but a lot better than they were), changed the points over to electronic ignition, and added a factory metal fan shroud along with a clutch fan. I drove this through a VERY SLOW 4th of July parade, over an hour long, with NO problems. The car ran a little over 200 and did not stall, cough, or anything of the type. I did the entire parade with the car in gear just using the gas and brake (yes I know that may be a funny statement, but I didnt have to do anything weird to try to cool it down). I have had this car on the expressway without issue.

To start with, the car has no racing history. The hood numbers, the decals, and the painting on the quarter panel were added by myself. I wanted to get that out there as Im sure many people will question it.
I bought this car about 4.5 years ago as an original unrestored car. It is originally from California and it still had the black plates on the front and rear (still has it on the front). The previous owner had brought the car back about 20 years prior to that and it sat in his heated garage until I bought it. Other than being repainted at one time the car had never been touched. This car is incredibly solid. There is one very small spot at the base of the rear window about the width of a pencil tip that rusted through. Its an odd spot and I have no idea how it would have happened. Inside the trunk, underneath this area is solid. Other than this one very weird spot, this car has zero holes, patch panels replacement panels, etc. Ive had it on a lift and the rockers, lower quarters, inner rockers, inner rear quarters, doors, trunk lid, trunk floor, floor boards, battery box, whatever piece of sheet metal you can ask about, is rock solid. The trunk still has the original trunk mat and card board liners. When I redid the engine the oil pan had no pitting (which would be common in a salt belt car), the exhaust manifold castings looked great as well.
The car is an original "X" code car meaning it came with a 352. When I got the car the original 352 ran, but needed work. I ended up rebuilding a 68 390 for it and I put all the 352 parts back on so that it looked like the original engine. The block was bored 40 and I put in flat top pistons. The crank was turned, rods resized, new freeze plugs, cam bearings, etc were installed. I used the 352 heads and had the valves redone, hardened valve seats installed, as well as slightly heavier valve springs to match the slightly larger than stock cam. I was more interested in having a nice reliable driver than a hot engine. The cast iron 4 bbl intake was powder coated black and the 352 valve covers and original air breather were powder coated blue (a slightly darker shade than stock). The engine got a new fly wheel to match the new high torque starter. The water pump is a high flow piece that was machined to accept the generator brackets. The carb is a reman Autolite carb. One exception to my desire to look stock was the aluminum radiator. I can drive the car around and it stays at 185 degrees. I had to replace the original radiator because the trans cooler became loose and was blocking the lower radiator hose. I have added a factory metal two piece fan shroud along with a clutch fan from a 64 Galaxie AC car. I have aftermarket gauges on the bottom of the dash (used factory holes did not drill anything). The car has new radiator hoses with the Ford part number on them.
I replaced the rear seal in the transmission as well as the pan gasket. Other than that I did not do any work to the tranny but it works fine. Sometimes the car will roll while in park, but the emergency/park brake works so I just set that anytime I get out of the car. The brakes were gone through-new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, springs, shoes, etc. I did not replace the brake lines because the under side of this car is rock solid and there was no corrosion present in the brake lines. I was able to remove the lines from the old wheel cylinders with hand tools. All wheel seals and wheel bearings were replaced. The brake drums were turned as well. New shocks were installed in the front. I have new shocks for the rear but I didnt install them as the car has some coil on shock type things in the back and I liked how the car sat so I didnt mess with them.
Car got new exhaust from the manifolds back and have Flow master 40 mufflers. It has a very nice little rumble to it. There are stainless turn downs at the rear bumper. Tires are new 14" coker bias ply. The rear tires are slightly taller than the front.
All glass is good in the car. No cracks or chips. The vent window on the passenger door opens and closes on its on-it must have become disconnected from the handle. The interior is all original and is a leans to the ratty side of things. The seats dried out and the cloth inserts were toasted. I found some old school slip on seat covers close in color so I installed those. The headliner is in rough shape but its there. The package tray in the back has speaker hole cut outs. Its missing the passenger side kick panel. All gauges work. The dash lights do not, however. The original radio is not hooked up. The blinkers blink slow. The dome lights work as does the plate light, reverse lights, brake lights, etc. I have the car plated and insured within the state of Michigan.
Overall this is an incredibly solid car. There are some dings and dents. The car does have hood pins. I have another hood to go with the car in case someone wanted to repaint it and replace the hood. This is an old car that I made reliable and safe to have fun with. There are some quirks. For example, you need to pull up on the shift handle to get it to start (common on old Fords). I had the alignment done on the front as well as the front inspected. She is safe but it still handles like an old car on bias ply tires.
I love this car, but the rest of my family does not, which it really is time to let it go. Car is being sold as is. Quirks and all. I have a clear title for the car.
