Description

You might not often see a 1974 Plymouth Road Runner tribute car, but look at this closely, because you're getting a heck of a lot of Mopar for the money. With a new performance-built 400ci V8, and a whole lot of attitude to back it up, this is a quick classic coupe that's pure intimidation.1974 would be the last year for the legendary second-generation Road Runners. They never again felt quite so sleek or bold after this one, and so we understand exactly why someone would take the time, effort, and investment into making a great tribute. The racy domed hood, a full stripe package, sport mirrors, and hood pins it all screams classic American muscle. The shine of the bright red emphasizes the car's muscular curves, and the workmanship is outstanding in every way. Those quarter panels are massive and have complex curves, so getting them straight can be tricky, luckily someone took their time and finished them off right. There's also quite a bit of chrome, most notably the big front and rear bumpers, which still shine like mirrors. There's even the addition of Cragar-style wheels to give the sides some standout brightwork. Of course, these would not be complete without the crowd-pleasing cartoon road runner graphics adding some humor into a very serious power package. The interior will be familiar to anyone who loves Mopar performance cars, with high-back buckets, a center console that angles towards the driver, and a dash full of round gauges. While intended to be the budget muscle car, you can't help but feel a bit comfortable for the era with features like the cloth seat covers, factory AM radio, and plenty of wood panel trim. This is true driver's car, so you get to take advantage of upgrades like the grippy Grant GT steering wheel and large column-mounted SunPro tach. But as nice as the coupe is inside and out, it's what's under the hood that makes this Road Runner tribute so special. The 400 cubic-inch motor has added displacement with a bored .30 over kit (decked & balanced). Plus, when this V8 was rebuilt about 5 years/5,000 miles ago, it included plenty more performance upgrades, including Keith Black pistons, Hastings rings, Clevite rods & bearings, Mopar Direct Connect lifters, Edelbrock Performer RPM dual plane intake, and a Holley 800 CFM double-pumper four-barrel carburetor. There's actually even more upgrades to this high-performance V8 just call for all the details because we'd run out of room listing it all here! The three-speed 727 TorqueFlite was also rebuilt to handle all the extra power, and it includes a Boss Hogg Level 2 Night Stalker torque converter with 2200-2800 RPM stall to keep you in the ideal powerband. Long tube headers means extra power and plenty of growl from the dual exhaust. Plus, the 3.55 rear end gives you the versatility of quick take-offs while still being highway-friendly. There are even front disc brakes and the grip of Cooper Cobra tires to keep it all feeling good on the road.Complete with build receipts and maintenance records, you're looking at a tribute that does everything right, including the price. So if you want a speedy Mopar for affordable money, hurry up and call today!
