The intake and carburetor have both been upgraded with Edelbrock components. The original air conditioning system (compressor) was removed during restoration. It is included but not installed. The original shaker has the internal solenoid equipment for the automatic scoop system. but the flap has been removed. The scoop was modified slightly at the opening. An aftermarket JVC CD sound system with remote control has been added. Also noted are some scratches on the passenger window of unknown origin. The weather stripping has all been replaced. The doors do not sag and the hinges are excellent. Many of the restoration and parts receipts are included with purchase. After the paint was applied. custom stripes were applied. that have the basic appearance of the original Can Am package. but are not the modern correct version as sold by Phoenix Graphics. This car is very clean and easy to drive. The engine is believed to have been rebuilt by a prior owner and seems to have a great deal of power for the era. It starts. runs. and shifts without any known problems whatsoever. The ride is firm and responsive. This vintage Pontiac is quite clean overall and very respected by the car collectors that understand the rarity. It was sold new in the Fort Wayne. Indiana area since new and spent some time in Texas before returning again. appears to have been respectfully cared for prior to the restoration. The only non-original or missing items to our knowledge is the correct radio. the flap for the shaker (reproductions are now available). the incorrect stripe package. one front wheel well molding needs replaced and there is no spare tire. Overall. this is a nice example of a rare Pontiac Muscle Car that was restored at a semi- amateur level and used little since. The quality is above average and would make a very nice driver for someone seeking to enjoy the hobby in a very unusual Pontiac. Can Am production ended prematurely. when the mold used in manufacturing the unique “duck tail” spoiler was accidentally damaged. It’s interesting to note that the exact same circumstances surrounded the discontinuation of the duck tail spoiler that was produced (in very limited numbers) for the 1972 GTO.
